Great machine suppose to get hard caseaccording to the serial number when registering it 4 warranty
The media could not be loaded. I love this machine!!! This is the 3rd singer heavy duty sewing machine Iโve gotten over the last 4 years. I sew leather and burn through machine and just didnโt feel like I had the right one. The first one was the heavy duty 4452 I loved that machine as well but I had issues with it and had to return it. Since it was purchased on Walmart online (3rd party seller) I could return it but they wouldnโt replace it. At Walmart I could only get the 44 S heavy duty and was in need of a sewing machine asap so thatโs what I went with. Iโve had it for 4 years and will continue to use it as well however this baby is my new favorite it cuts through the leather with no problem. I had problems with the motor strength with the 44S at the seems of leather when sewing patches on and in thick areas of fabric. However when I scanned the card inside the box to register my machine for the warranty through singer. It came up as the Singer HD500 w/ hard case. I didnโt get a hard case with it?? So Iโm contacting the site to ask why it didnโt come with the hard case itโs suppose to according to the serial number and will contact singer as well. Will update you with the results

Easy to Set Up and Quiet! I Love This Sewing Machine!
I am glad I decided to buy the Singer Classic HD500. Love it's retro look!More importantly, it is really easy to thread, and winding the bobbin was a breeze. I have not had problems with thread breaking like some have mentioned.. And the foot pedal works well and has a wide range from barely moving to high speed and it handles the fabric well at both speeds. This machine is much quieter than any others I have, too. While the outside body is plastic, the inside is metal and it is heavy so it stays put when sewing.Folks have mentioned the inconvenience of not having a full manual shipped with the machine. Some have mentioned they had to pay for it, but it is readily available on Singer's website at no cost.. Since I can't include the link in my review, maybe Amazon should have one in the listing?Singer has created the imprint of a ruler at the bottom front of the machine, which would be helpful if you could actually read it. It could be much improved if it were enhanced with gold metallic paint to match the rest of the machine. That is what I did and it is much more usable. I've included photos of before and after to see how it turned out for me.

Singer heavy duty machine
This is a very basic machine. I would judge to be a beginner machine. It seems to have a problem with the thread catching under the machine if you do not hold the thread when starting to sew. Also, the space between the table and under side of the machine is so short that it is hard to fit your fist under the machine to thread it. I have a small womanโs hand. It does sew well through heavy layers of cloth, if you are careful not to put any pressure on the cloth. Another issue is that the thread gets caught on the outside trim of the machine and breaks, if you are not careful to watch it. It is the gold trim near the area where the thread goes through the swinging arm.It is an easy machine to figure out and very user friendly.I would not choose this machine again. I bought it for a spare machine to travel on the road in an RV. I have had many Singer machines in the past that I have used for years. This machine is good for small projects.

Best Purchase
This is my first sewing machine and absolutely love it. Very solid and built to last. Love that they kept tradition with traditional color scheme and all metal interior. Definitely recommend. The ladies at the sewing class were all talking about my machine how i have the best machine singer makes. Its definitely top of the line

Cheap plastic exterior, but nice features & stitches
The body of this machine is plastic. The included cover is a cheap gray gauze-like material. The presser foot lever is even plastic! I figured it would be plastic, but I expected better quality of plastic. You can kind of see in my photo warps around the seam on the machine bed. I knew the manual was online before purchase, but was pleasantly surprised that it came with bobbin winding & needle threading instructions. I do wish it did come with a manual.Winding the bobbin, threading, and inserting the bobbin were all simple & easy. I like the clear cover on the bobbin so I can see when the thread is running out. The needle threader is great! ๐I also like the built-in storage. Missed that in a sewing machine. Stitches nice and runs alright. Sewing through some layers of fabric and batting caused banging on my kitchen table. ๐๐ I had to put a folded up towel under it. Compared to my 26 year old Bernina it runs loud.I don't mind that you can't see the ruler as I never use the one on the machine front, but it is hard to see some of the stitches on the knob of you don't have great light. Most of the functions on this are straightforward and easy to remember. Things are labeled and there are arrows indicating what direction things go in, which is helpful. I bought a 1/4 inch presser foot as the line on the bobbin case was a bit hard to see when sewing, and extra bobbins.Pretty basic sewing machine with some extra fancy stitches. Runs and stitches well enough. Pretty light. Easy to pick up and move.

Crazy there are NO Directions, Shame on Singer
This machine is pretty straight forward but came with minimal instructions, basically how to thread and wind a bobbin. I wrote to Singer to get directions, they literally directed me to a third party to BUY instructions or indicated I could download (230 pages). I'm sorry but that is not acceptable. I keep the directions of all of my machines which I've had for years because it's a quick reference. Their claim is that they are going "green" which is a total joke because the machine is packaged in styrofoam and a box that is wax coated and not recyclable. I am truly appalled by this ridiculous excuse. I will return this machine and make sure that the next machine includes directions. THIS IS JUST CRAZY! Crazy because I have been a Singer customer forever, but this is a flimsy excuse and ridiculous that they don't offer to send directions instead of having you download and print 230 8.5x11 sheets of instructions.
