Bought 5/23, it’s 11/24 and still running
I purchased this exhaust fan for my old chicken coop in May 2023 to help with the crazy south Florida heat. It’s now December 1, 2024 and it’s still running. We demolished that old coop but I kept the fan. I turned it around so that it blows air into a small area of the new coop. Worked great pulling hot air out of the top of the old coop and works great blowing air into the bottom of the new one. It is solar and the unit is made of plastic, it’s not that loud and it works. The Sun has to be on the panel for it to work. If you walk by the panel and cast your shadow over the panel, it slows the fan down. It’s not something that will cool an area, but it does help move air and pull out the heat. We have two other regular fans to help cool the area down and move air.

It works as advertised
How often can you say that! The first time I purchased this was for the tack room in a metal barn. We have humid summers and this was enough to keep the air moving and fresh. There was a noticeable difference in the temperature of the room all summer long. The amount of sunlight shining on the panel determines the speed of the fan. It’s dust right now but still works. I like that it has a switch that can turn it off. However, I’ve left it running all winter. It been running daily for a year and a half with zero issues. I bought a second fan for the enclosed hay barn. It worked all summer long until a rodent chewed through the cord.

Powerful
This little solar fan works great when you have the panel in full sunlight. I like that it has an off and on switch so you can shut it off during the winter when it is not needed. We use it in our chicken coop and it has done great so far to keep the hot air out during the day. I took a star off because 1.) it needs to be in direct sunlight for it to work. There are no internal batteries to make it work when the sun goes down or it’s a cloudy day. 2.) It does not come with the solar panel mounting brackets!!!!All in all when it gets full sun its a powerful little exhaust fan that’s why I still gave it 4 stars!

SUN ENERGISE 20 watt Solar Powered Exhaust Fan 8”
The media could not be loaded. UPDATE: I bought this exhaust fan in September 2023. Nearly exactly one year later, it is dead. I did what someone else in the comments did and tapped it, and it worked for a bit, but now it’s totally dead. One reviewer said they contacted the seller and was able to get a new one. I don’t see anywhere on Amazon how to contact this seller. Now I have to get a new fan. I’m certainly not buying this brand again, and getting one that has a battery anyways. I don’t know what the average amount of time these fans typically last, but one year for a nearly $100 fan is unacceptable. I probably should’ve gotten the extended warranty, and will get one for the next one I buy. This review is for the SUN ENERGISE 20 watt Solar Powered Exhaust Fan 8”. I bought this fan for my shed because it’s hot nowadays and I don’t want my merch to get roasted. I didn’t want to spend too much for it and was actually looking for something that was about $40-50, but from the reviews, most in that range weren’t any good. I found this one and it seemed to have some decent reviews, and good enough for the money ($90). As others have said, it does not come with mounting brackets, but I figured it’s actually better that it didn’t because it may not fit how the buyer wants to mount it. I ended up using some aluminum gutter brackets from HD that were lightweight and easy to bend to fit my situation. The fan fits perfectly in the vent hole for the shed, and only had to drill new holes to mount the fan. As far as the fan itself, it seems to pull a good amount of hot air out, but for a 7.5’x 6’ shed, I don’t think it’s enough because it still seems pretty warm inside. It probably needs two, but it’s good enough for me. Better than nothing. When the solar panel is only 1/4 covered, the fan loses quite a bit of power. This unit does not store power. The build is decent; The solar panel is pretty solid, but the fan and vent are okay at best -not the sturdiest plastic. I’d give it 4.5 stars if I could, knocking a half star off for no bracket and the loss of power when the panel is covered even for just a bit.

Stopped working after a few weeks
I was eager to get this fan installed. It tested fine out of the box and worked well after it was installed. A few weeks after I installed it, I noticed it was not working at all for no apparent reason. The solar panel is in full, unobstructed, afternoon sun. Nothing is rubbing nor obstructing the fan blade and it spins freely when rotated by hand. It just stopped working. It was a real job to get it installed in a not easy to access location too. Amazon was unable to accept a return as it was just over the 30-day return window (which sucks.). Luckily, I was able to get a very helpful Amazon agent, who found a way to get a refund on the item as a one-time exception. So, purchase with caution.

Panel doesn't have bracket - Only works when sun hits the panel directly - pushes good amount of air
The fan works pretty well when the panel is hit by the sun, and pushes enough air to open the flaps halfways (45 degree, not full 90 degree). That being said, there are 25W fan/panel combinations that look exactly the same, for a lower cost, and that have the bracket. This does not have a battery, and only works when the sun hits it. Since it has no bracket, you are left to install it on your own or somehow fabricate a bracket. I installed the panel flush on top of my shed's roof. However, I know that this is not the best positioning.

Great customer service, but necessary hole is bigger than I would like.
Update: the fan only lasted 4-5 months before it wuit working. Downgrading my original rating. This solar panel works as intended. On when the sun is out, off when it isn't. Install is pretty easy. 2 things you'll need to be aware of:1. This solar panel has a standard male/female screw connector. The problem is that the male and thumb screw connector is on the solar panel side (the long cord), not the fan side. Because of this, you'll need to put a 1" hole in your roof to get the cord in.2. No mounting hardware with the solar panel, so if you want to mount it anywhere, you'll pay extra for that. The company is great and easy to work with. I had an issue, and they took great care of me. If you're aware of and ok with #1 and #2 it's a great buy.
