Bring your own jar
So, compared to, say, McCormick Turkish Bay leaves, you get about 1000x times as many for not much more money. The leaves were fairly fresh, most of them whole and not a bunch of dried out pieces. I put them in ball jars. You save a bundle buying Bay leaves this way, way more than you need of course, but now I don't feel bad throwing a handful into something I'm making. Decent quality here, massive quantity for the price compared to tiny bottles of premium spices. I often do buy McCormick brand or other name brands for spices because many spices simply go stale so there's no reason to buy much. Like Tarragon, for example, it's extremely pungent and a little goes a long way and for me I don't use it that much, so I buy that in a little expensive bottle. However, again, a big handful of Bay leaves is quite nice because they are a mild spice and now I don't feel like I'm tossing dollar bills into a stew.

My husband laughed at me for buying 6 oz. package.
Even though they last, it will take us many years to use these up. Wish I had purchased the 2 oz. size! When I opened the bag the smell was fresh and pungent. I stored as many as I could in a 1 qt. ball jar, and still have at least 3/4 of a bag of leaves left. You will need to sort through them as there were some bad leaves and stems. But for the price, it is worth it. I'll see if my neighbors want any, LOL.

Put one in flour canister
Perfect huge bag of bay leaves!! These smell and look great. I add a couple to boiled peanuts and keep a couple in my flour to keep out those little bugs. I bought 25 lbs of flour to keep in a food grade bucket and sadly found that it got those little bugs. So before I threw it away, I figured I’d test some hacks from YouTube. The best was the Bay Leaf!! I dropped in about 5 leaves and sealed the bucket. Left it for a week or two and when I opened it, all the little bugs were on the very top DEAD. I’m still shocked that it worked so well!! So now, I put a bay leaf in all flour as soon as I bring it home. Apparently those bugs are in it at the store but are too small to see. Lots of people advise putting flour in the freezer for 24 hours to kill them, but I find the bay leaf works much better. Plus 25 lbs of flour wouldn’t fit in my freezer! So many are in this bag that I’m probably stocked for life…trying to figure out more uses for them. I’ve also added one to my pet’s dry food bag - I’ve never seen a bug in there, but just in case.

Great deal
The bag it comes in is not great for long term storage... and this represents a huge quantity of bay leaves unless you burn them daily for the health benefits as the bag suggests. So I painstakingly stuffed leaves into jars for most of an hour. I collected any leaves that looked dodgy and took mental note of anything else. A very few of the leaves showed brown spots or something that looked vaguely bug-related. I would estimate it at 10 total leaves or less (a very small %) that I didn't want to use for cooking... but it was interesting to burn them for said aromatherapy type effects. There were a few twigs and a good number of leaves (10-15%?) had a couple holes from bugs or were broken around the edges (not sure if its bugs/birds or from handling).However... the fragrance and taste of these is amazing... and they're the same actual species familiar to the Romans. In my opinion, these were grown in healthy conditions, outdoors, and the issues above are complete normal and actually indicate they weren't sprayed with stuff. The price of a tiny jar of maybe a dozen leaves is 3-5 bucks these days. Buy this bag and you too can wrap your roasts in a layer of bay leaves and add big handfuls to your mirepoix, stocks, etc.

I ordered this product because of the highly-rated reviews with respect to flavor. I can't comment on the flavor aspect as yet, but I can tell you that I am very disappointed with the other qualities of these bay leaves.Specifically, for the amount of leaves, there are very few large enough to cook with so that they can easily removed from dishes prior to eating, and a lot of the leaves are broken. However, the worst part is the waste. It seems as though this company has no quality control--that they just taking heaping piles of bay leaves and dry them regardless of their condition. For example, a lot of the leaves were not usable: either they were yellow, brown (as in dead), had black edges, or had black spots on them (what's that?).I've sorted through only about 1/3 of the bag, and I had to toss about 1/4 of that amount due to the problems mentioned above. I've sorted the usable pieces into small, medium, and large groupings: the large pieces are the whole leaves for cooking; the medium and small are either broken or very small whole leaves. The vast amount of the usable pieces are either medium or small, but importantly, unusable in recipes where you want to remove the leaf. I figure that I will grind up the small pieces and use the powder in recipes and use the medium pieces for tea.For sure, though, I will not purchase this product again from this seller. I am considering purchasing a bay laurel bush so that I have fresh bay leaves as needed...or at least if I dry them, I will high quality dried leaves. However, this will have to wait until next Spring. In the meantime, I will use the bay leaves I purchased.UPDATE (12/6/20): I just wanted to add that upon hearing about my review of this product, the CEO the company promptly contacted me and offered to replace the product or give me a full refund. I chose to get a full refund, and he took care of the immediately as well. Their customer service is stellar; however, I stand by my review of their product.
