Yes, it Works In Lieu of DC-51 Cartridges
If you have a Kaz model V5100NS (model number found on the bottom of the base of the humidifier), these filters DO fit. They are smaller than the original DC-51 cartridges, and they do not last nearly as long, but the smaller shape does work in this model. You’ll have to replace the filters much more frequently (every 2-3 weeks if using regularly) but they do what they’re supposed to do.The water where I live is very hard water with lots of calcium in it. I’ve used COOL tap water (not warm or hot - this kicks up more minerals in the water, and hot water is not recommended in this humidifier) from my sink, and with these cartridges, I do not have “white dust” forming to the surrounding area. I would still recommend using distilled water when possible to potentially extend the longevity of the humidifier and demineralization cartridges.I hope this helps another person who has been struggling to find the right cartridge for their V5100NS humidifier as it appears DC-51 cartridges no longer exist.

CARTRIDGE DOES NOT FIT VICKS V5100NS Ultra Quiet Cool Mist Dehumidifier
This cartridge does not fit the V5100NS. It has the plastic ring on it. The fill tank shaft/control that lets water out does not set down on a post to allow the water out. I purchased these last year and set them aside only to learn today they don't work. It appears there is a V1 attached to some descriptions which may make a difference. In looking at photos on amazon and the net there appears to be a shorter cartridge with the post but I"m not sure how to discern if I would be purchasing the right one. I'm disapointed in this cartridge unless they sent me the wrong gone.

Right filter for our model but got redesigned sometime so now it barely fits.
Didn't fit the humidifier as well as it should. Was such a tight fit that I felt I was about to break the bracket it went into. I'm sure we have the model it claims to fit in.
