Really works and lasts
I bought this a few years ago and after wearing it a couple if months the problem cleared right up. I haven't had any problems since until yesterday. I dug it out of a drawer and slipped it back on. It's as good as when I first bought it.I thought I ought to write a review, lol.I washed a lot of dishes, did housework, knitted, yardwork, and pretty much abused the "Finger Splint". It held up. My dog, a Chihuahua, also got a hold of it once. So I purchased a backup pack, just in case. But never needed them. AAA+++ Worth the price!

What you need to know about size & how to wear.......
I have Trigger Thumb on my RIGHT hand. My hands are small, but my fingers are short and stubby and tend to swell depending on the amount of salty foods I consume. As instructed, I measured around the joint of my thumb. My left thumb knuckle measured 2.5" around. I should have measured my RIGHT thumb, but I'm RIGHT handed and trying to do it with my left hand didn't work out and I had no one to help my out. Anyway, according to their chart, I should wear a size 9. I decided to order the 8,9,10 package "just in case". I'm glad I did. The size 8 was way too small. The size 9 was on the tight side, but wearable. The Size 10 was much better, but a tiny bit loose. What I intend to do is wear the tighter size 9 at night so it won't come off as easily and the size 10 during the day or when my thumb swell up.What I like about it is...…. My hands tend to be in and out of water all day long. A regular brace was a PIA taking it on and off each time I was by the kitchen sink, bathroom or laundry room. This is water proof is easy on and off when necessary. Washes up nicely..... use soap and water or even an hand sanitizer with no problem. Doesn't interfere with using my laptop or phone. MUCH LESS BULKY.For proper fitting onto your hand, LOOK FOR THE "+" SIGN on one of the ends of one of the loop and slip that end on FIRST. it's a little wider to enable it to slip over your knuckle. See instructions that come with it.I think it's priced a little steep for a few rings of hard plastic. but if it works......that's all I care about. Will post a follow up in a few weeks. I hope to avoid having to get another steroid injection into the base of my thumb.....not a fun procedure.

Trigger Thunb?
My thumb seemed to be clicking out of joint. I’ve been wearing the Oval 8 for about 3 weeks. It feels more secure wearing it. Its not all better yet, as I don’t yet know the reason it’s happening. The Oval 8 bothered a bone that stuck out a bit on my thumb. I just turned it and it doesn’t rub now. I’m a average woman with my family’s large hands. I’m wearing the size 10.

Trigger thumb is healing thanks to this!
After researching trigger thumb issues for about a week, I came across a great YouTube video with advice to heal a trigger thumb (or finger) without the cortisone shot or surgery. It takes 6 weeks and I'm about halfway there. It's truly working. Every time you pop the thumb or finger, it becomes a little worse, so don't let it pop! I wear a full on brace at night and I wear this Oval-8 splint during the day. I remove it periodically and bend the thumb around at the joints using my opposite hand. For some reason, if the good hand moves the injured thumb, it won't pop. The idea is to keep it loose. Also there are exercises you can do to keep the muscles in the injured hand good. You can find those online. Just don't let the thumb pop. As for this Oval 8 guard, it's the best! I love that I can get it wet, but the thumb never pops. Showering and working in the kitchen had been a challenge since wearing a brace there was impossible. I do turn the Oval-8 slightly numerous times throughout the day, just to make sure I don't wear a callous or blister. That's no big deal. Also, the package with 3 sizes has been great. There have been times when my thumb felt a bit swollen and having the next size up was convenient. I almost feel like I could use my thumb, but the video warned against being tempted to test it out. Popping it can set back your progress. I don't plan to try it out til the 6 week mark. By the way, in case anyone is interesting, the name of the video I watched is - Trigger Thumb Tips + Tricks: Home Exercises, Splinting, and Massage. She specifically mentions this Oval 8 splint, which is how I came to try it out. She also explains the stretches much better than I did.

It WORKS!
Long story, short....I somehow gravely injured my right (dominant!) thumb while sleeping. It hurt beyond belief and I couldn't move it, bend it, put pressure on it, and it was ridiculously swollen. I couldn't physically do anything with it and again, it was my dominant thumb so that presented some problems.I purchased these and holy cow what a lifesaver! I was able to do my normal functions with minimal pain bc it would prevent my thumb from moving....I was able to wash dishes, type on the computer, etc. After 2 weeks of wearing it I was able to tie my show laces (with the brace on), button buttons, etc. I got an X-ray and there was nothing wrong with my bones so I was encouraged to keep wearing it. About a month after I slowly started weaning myself off of the brace and started doing at home PT.The color was also awesome because it was so discreet. During all of this I was MOH at my sister's wedding and you can't see it in pictures, etc. Also, thanks to this brace I was able to button her dress and do her bustle.I'm no longer wearing it and my thumb is mostly healed (still has its moments). But, I would not have gotten through the month long healing process and being able to do everyday things without this brace. HIGHLY recommend. The pictures shown are my before and after.
