Great steps that work great. Install can be a challenge
Installation: 2018 Jeep JL SaharaTruly love these steps. Function and look great. My install exeperince for these types of things I would say is average to above average. Two main issues: length of wire running to motors and install instructions lacking.1. Wire length to motors leaves absolutely no room for personal placement of box in your engine bay. Just plan on cutting the motor connections off and extending them 11-24inches. Not a big deal, but means buying extra wire, waterproof connectors, shrink tubing and plastic covering. Will add $25-50 to your install providing you have wire stripper/crimper tool. Keep in mind you will need to fold these wires over themselves 2-3 inches to just put the motor covers on.2. Install the motors to the brackets BEFORE you hang the brackets. Very difficult to hang brackets then try to attach the motors. They are not all synced to be in the full down position.3. Install your running boards as the very last step. The motors will self regulate to the full up and down positions after opening and closing the door several times. This was my biggest A-HA doing this for the first time. Wasted a lot of time fighting the motor/gear line up not being the same and no way to attach the running board. Instructions don’t tell you this happens. Secondly, if you need to tighten up anything or zip tie wires, much easier when they are offFinally, buy some good zip ties. The ones that come with it are garbage. Also, the screws/taps that you need to put the cover on over the motors are pure junk. Just use a couple zip ties and sinch them down tight.May sound like I’m bashing these steps, I’m not. End result is awesome. Perform well and look great. Just instructions and video leave some things out and just sharing what I went through. If I had to do it again, it would probably take me 3-4hrs. Was actually fun project for me. Good luck!
