Very nice board, easy to work with. Wear a mask while cutting.
I bought this to rebuild the melting chamber of a small metal melting furnace. It compares very favorably with the OEM material, having a nice coating of what I guess is a rigidizer material. It was packed very well, arrived with no dents or crushed corners.I’ve cut it with both a utility knife and a bandsaw. Bandsaw works best for a good square edge. It produces a very fine dust which is potentially harmful so a mask is recommended. The bandsaw cuts it really smooth and generated minimal dust. For slotting recesses I just used a utility knife to cut to the desired depth, then used a sharp chisel and coarse file to smooth the bottom of the channel. The coating makes the board less friable in comparison to the OEM, leaving nice edges that retain the heating element well.Have fired up the furnace and all is well, the cabinet gets hot but no more so than the original. It might seem expensive but the replacement assembly from the manufacturer is well over $200 so it’s a good value if you have basic tools and a little creativity, and I only used about half of a 12 x 24 sheet.

Works in my forge
I used it to replace the ceiling in my forge that was old and falling down. Easy to cut with a fine tooth saw, and a hole saw for the Venturi. It smoked a bit in the beginning, but quit after a while. I ran for over an hour at forge weld temps and it held up great. So far, after one heat, it’s doing great.

Fire proofing for a propane stove
It worked very well as a barrier between our stove and the wood wall in our camper.

Keepin the heat!
Purchased this as a replacement piece for the inside top of my wood burning fireplace. It was larger than needed, but since it was so easy to cut I was able to put in one solid piece instead 4 pieces. After having several fires in the fireplace I noticed that it seems to be holding the heat better. If you need to replace the stone in your fireplace or stove I would suggest this product.
