Use RED for most baking, GOLD for low moisture.
Some people assume "GOLD" is better than "RED" - it's not! They are both high-quality yeast, but just designed for different uses. Gold performs better with less liquid.I bake a lot of bread and after a lot of experimentation I now only use SAF. The SAF-RED is the go-to yeast for most baking, however for low-hydration dough (for example a 50% or more whole wheat) the SAF-GOLD is a better choice as it performs better with less-moisture dough.

Good yeast Very affordable
It is a dry yeast that works. It dissolved well. I prefer to use liquid no hotter than 112F (44 to 45C). The gold variety performs better in sweet doughs, but is also excellent in traditional and rich doughs (you do not need to add extra like you do for red yeast in sweet doughs). For longevity, once you open the package, place a month's worth of yeast is a dark glass jar & store in your refrigerator. Leave the rest in it's original package & then tightly in three or four layers of plastic wrap. Store this in the freezer. Bring the yeast to room temperature before using - about 30 mintues from the refrigerator & 45 mintues from the freezer. I have used this method for years, and successfully useed yeast that was 6 months past it's use by date when I removed it from the freezer - with no loss of leavening. [NB: This package is the equivalent of 64 packets of yeast. They are 1/4 ounce each & this is a full pound.]

The best way to buy yeast bar none.
It's yeast. It's cheap and it always works in my bread machine. Don't buy packets, but this brick and decant it into three clean dry jam jars. Put two into the freezer and put the other one in the fridge. They will last pretty much for ever and teaspoon out of the fridge jar. It makes the yeast so cheap it's hard to calculate how much the yeast costs per loaf.

Bread Helper!
I have been using the yeast for making sandwich and baguettes. I do not know what the differences between this brand and other brands that I have used. Maybe, professional bakers do. I put a small amount of yeast in a jar in the pantry for frequent usage. The rest is placed in the freezer. Anyway, the bread turns out good. It is a good yeast and I highly recommend it.

Saf-Instant TOTALLY "Rises" to the occasion (groan! ;-)
Wonderfully fresh and effective yeast. You need to heed the conversion factors for this yeast compared to amounts of standard bread yeast and "quick rise" versions like Fleischmann's and this product is SO good of a deal for the money there's no comparison! Will continue to buy this yeast and no other for all my baking needs. The first recipe I used it for was a pizza crust which rose perfectly in the exact time frame called for in the recipe. If anything, I might back off on the amount of yeast I used next time because it was almost too fluffy and rich for thin-crust pizza which is what I was going for. You can see the pre-baked result in the photo (and yeah, it tasted amazing!).

Great for Bread Machine
I use this in my Hamilton Beach HomeBaker 29882 Breadmaker.Works great on regular bread and also sweet or acidic bread. I keep it in a zip lock in the freezer and put it in the breadmaker while still frozen. Use for any recipe calling for instant yeast. If the recipe calls for a .25 oz packet of yeast then use 2-1/4 teaspoons. otherwise use the number of teaspoons called for in the recipe. The only times I have had unsatisfactory results is when I was using a poor grade of flour. If your flour doesn't have the right protein content for the particular bread you are making then it will not rise properly. This has nothing to do with the yeast.I highly recommend this product for applications using instant yeast.

Very fast yeast
This is pretty amazing yeast. If you are used to instant yeast, well, this is even faster than the regular instant stuff. I think it is supposed to be used in sweet bread applications, but I use it in pizza crust and bread. It's very convenient if I am in a time crunch to have my dough double in size in less than 30 minutes. Of course, that also means that if you aren't careful, you can overproof it, which will lead to disappointing results. So, you have to keep your eye on it and act quickly. But it absolutely can be used in regular/savory dough, and it's great when I'm trying to make pizza for dinner, and I am behind schedule (which happens more often than not!).

Reliable-Faster-Uses Less
We have used SAF Instant Yeast (the one with the Red Band at bottom of the package), in a restaurant for more than twenty years. This Instant Gold works much faster than the one with the Red Band and less yeast is required. In recipes that called for 1 Tbs of yeast we now use 1 1/2 tsp. Although the Instant Gold costs about 20% more than than the other; it uses half as much so in the end it costs less. We also have more success with this yeast when making a gluten free bread.
