Very strong fragrance do if you are trying it for the first time I would recommend you use the unfortified version of the same This is fortified with B12 and other vitamin, so this tends to be more pungent so we use this one to add in our dogs diet and he loves it if used in smaller quantities in soups and basis and cooked gravy, it usually does not provide specific taste, but if you eat it in raw form by sprinkling, it’s a bit strong flavour

Urban Platter nutritional yeast flakes - Taste is good, but thats not what matters. I've bought this product for the Thiamine & Niacin that I'm assuming are natural & not fortified. On the jar it says that "All ingredients are produced by natural fermentation - not synthetic or animal sources" but on the front of the jar the label says " 100% vegan, non GMO & fortified". So what exactly is fortified? Thiamine & Niacin are the most important B-complex vitamins that are difficult to obtain in sufficient quantities from diet and thats why we are paying high price for nutritional yeast - to obtain these two vital vitamins in natural, bio available form. If these 2 ingredients are fortified, its like consuming sysnthetic vitamins & the purpose of nutritional yeast is defeated. The manufacturer should clarify whether the Thiamine & Niacin is wholly natural or partly synthetic.

Truly a delicious concoction! As a vegan, I was eagerly looking forward to trying the ubiquitous “nooch”, that seemed to be in every vegan’s pantry. Happy to say, this brand didn’t disappoint! Though the price is quite prohibitive and makes me use this product sparingly, like hoarding water in a desert, its effect on dishes is quite marvellous. I added it to my nacho “cheese” sauce, to add that legitimately cheesy tang to it, and lo and behold! It was the closest I’d ever gotten to it since becoming vegan! I also used it in my macaroni and cheese recipe and as a cheesy topping on my pizza. It’s a great substitute, and it’s also nutritious to boot! Definitely recommend it, if the price isn’t a deterrent.

lol, I accidentally used this to Make bread. 🍞, what a mistake. Now I know to put it in smoothies or? It smells like yeast. I Thought ,” oh cool, flakes.”

The flakes have a nice nutty flavor and add a lot of vitamin B to pastas and soups .
