great product, great price. would recommend this herb to anyone looking to curb anxiety & improve their mood.
i take st. john's wort to help stabilize my moods and help me not get beaten down from stress. over a decade ago (in my late teens), i was diagnosed with depression / anxiety and took prescription medications to treat it. while the pharmaceuticals did help me get "through it / over it", it came with a lot of unpleasant side effects. after ~4 years, i was able to ween myself off of the medication and no longer suffered with my mental health issues.about 3 years ago, due to juggling a full-time job and opening/running a small business, i found myself overwhelmed with stress. anxiety crept it's way back in and was making it difficult at times to function in daily life. my moods were fickle. i found myself responding poorly to minor annoyances and life's speed bumps. i was bogged down, unmotivated and frustrated with what my demeanor was becoming. to add to this, during my -ahem- monthly moon cycle, the increase in hormones made me pretty miserable and sometimes i would feel seriously out of control with mood swings. not wanting to venture down the path of psychiatry and prescriptions again, i did some research into st. john's wort. i had known of it's mood boosting properties and decided to give it a shot.i find that it has helped me a lot. in addition to other actions i've taken (including some light self-performed cognitive behavior therapy, trying to exercise regularly, being "present" and actively re-aligning my thoughts when i start to turn to "the darkside"), taking 1 or 2 capsules a day has greatly improved my mood and really helps me manage my stress. i've noticed no unpleasant side effects with taking st. john's wort whatsoever which is such a plus, but YMMV.lastly, i'll say that while you can find this supplement in stores, the price on amazon is unbeatable. 2 bottles for the price of 1 from your local pharmacy makes this already very-affordable herb that much cheaper.

Satisfied & Impressed
I normally don’t write product reviews, but this supplement is life changing. Just started my dosage today and immediately felt better. My mood gradually improved which allowed me to focus more on my daily tasks. I honestly can’t believe it!!!!

Worked, I guess (your experience may differ)
You have to take these for a few weeks before noticing an effect. And even then, it's not as evident as when using something like Prozac. But if you stop taking them you'll notice in a few days, your mood gradually gets "darker".

Very calming
I had never tried these capsules or any Wort product for that matter. They come in an easy to swallow capsule that tastes rather bad if you leave it in your mouth too long, but that's OK.The bottle says to take them 3 times a day with meals, which is a good idea because alone they make me queasy. I take them twice a day with food, like a banana or toast. It took a couple of days but I started noticing a difference in my mood. I had been a little depressed and really cranky and these made me actually giggle. I would find myself watching TV and laughing out loud. I have also been in a good mood and have slept so much better. It has been a few months and I still feel nice and calm. Read the precautions.

I'm a believer
I've been fighting depression for years; took a number of prescription anti-depressants, tolerated the side effects. Finally, I completely changed my life, moved west, found happiness. Got married, progressed in my career, got my son... everything I wanted. Yay! So why, after 6 years, do I begin to feel down again? Panic attacks at work, can't get up in the morning, life's little joys lack luster... (I can answer that, actually, it's that aforementioned career...). I start considering the medications again, but... I don't want them. I remember how awful they used to make me feel. I remember the dry mouth, the missing libido, the head in the clouds. I don't want it!So I do a bit of research, and find three contenders: St John's Wort, Passionflower, and Schizandra. All are said to combat anxiety and depression. Decided to try the St John's Wort first, since it appears to focus more on depression (the other two appear to be more for anxiety), it's natural (break the capsule and make tea!), and it's been used for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. Here is my experience:St John's Wort is not an upper, it's doesn't sedate. It brings *balance* without the awful side effects that the prescription pills give you. I can still FEEL, which is super important to me. I can still feel sad, anxious, worried. But I am more often happy, excited, calm, and positive. I don't cry at toilet paper commercials, and I can speak with other people at work without panicking. I can fall asleep at night. I can get out of bed in the morning feeling rested. I can handle ... life... again. It's all about that balance. I'm so thankful for this product.Other folks have asked if it continues working over a longer period of time. I questioned that as well at at first. The difference in mood when I first start taking it was NOTICEABLE. I felt much happier. I felt GOOD. After a month or so, the comparison is not so fresh, not so noticeable. And I wondered. I stopped taking it, lessening the dosage over a week. Felt the downward spiral. Had trouble sleeping. I tried the Passionflower extract, and found it gave me insomnia. Not for me. Dealt with misery for a week to clear THAT out of my system, and started taking St John's Wort again. And the balance returned. Let me tell you, if I miss one dose, it's apparent. I can feel my mood falling. It's a slow fall, but if I let it go, hello tears at Harry Potter book reviews. So yes, it still works after a longer period of time.In summary, I am a believer in St John's Wort and love the lack of side effects. Who knew that herbs that have been used for thousands of years could be so beneficial in today's world? ;)

Not a fan of this brand. Tastes bad. I prefer the Swanson brand.
