Let down by poor stitching
I had to return this tent after one camping trip. It was waterproof but a couple of ties and the inner tent corner broke due to poor stitching

the'little tent' has a big brother: and it is equally good.
Fifteen years ago I bought a little dome tent. It was cheap, it was advertised in the 'Radio Times' and I thought it would do for a weekend and would then get thrown out like most cheap things. Not a bit, it is still going strong. Wanting to upgrade and disappointed by the quality of other affordable makes, I discovered my 'little tent' is a High Peaks 'Texel'. I bought the four man Kira rather than the 3 man (which is the same size as my dome but with a porch)as my tent is a '3 man' but fits two fairly snugly without a lot of gear. Same with this one: I think four would be a squash but apart from that, it is fantastic! Excellent quality fabric and very well made, neat flyscreen cover on the door, good securing tags all sewn in for rolling the doors up, not a fault in the stitching or the zips, comes in a neat bag and is lighter to pack and carry than some backpacker tents. It is excellent for solo pitching (6 minutes for first try today) Lay out inner, pop poles in corner holes, lift, tie, hook and it's up. Flysheet over, peg it out and all done. I find it easier and quicker than an outer first pitch with fiddly poles to thread. Good clearance between fly and inner, internal pole guide on porch, proper guy rope attachments. The porch is not massive, but has room for the stove (with the sloping door rolled back for heat clearance)and for wet coats, boots etc. It does not have a groundsheet in the porch, but that is easily fixed and the inner tent has integral groundsheet of good quality. Yes, it is lowish, there is room to sit or kneel up but one needs crawl about; luckily this is fine for me.I understand why people find it a drawback but having had the dome up in a howling gale, I find the stability an asset. This looks fit to last as well as the other tent from High Peaks and is great value for the price.

Four Man Tent?
This tent proved to be barely adequate for two people and their gear, so I have no idea how four men could sleep in it. It proved to be waterproof, thank god. Putting it up was a challenge, but to be fair, I had not put up a tent in many years. Next time, I would spend more money and buy a better tent, one that I could stand up in. Crawling and crouching are not fun unless you are a child!

fab buy
This is an excellent little tent for the money. It sleeps four people easily, though would be more comfortable with 3, but also has plenty of room in the porch area for storing extra kit etc. It's not a huge family tent, but great for festivals or camping for a couple of nights as it's really easy to put up. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, and even my 11 year old can get it pitched with no problems. With a water column of 2000mm it's watertight and the seams seem to be of a good quality.I've been camping for over 30 years and have owned several tents, I would recommend High Peak from now on, as the quality is favourable compared with other more well known brands, but the price compares favourably too.
