Very good for my purposes.
These 2 dvds have the same format with a lot of ways to vary how they are used. You can choose a language and then hear each vocab word pronounced while you see that word spelled out as well as the image of the item or action. Or you can mix and match, that is hear one language and see the word spelled in another language. The same image and music are used for all languages. Mandarin subtitles are in pinyin and traditional characters tho' for basic vocabulary many/most are actually the same character. I am not expert at all on characters and have been studying simplified characters but I did notice that the character for mén or door is incorrect which irritates me.I have studied French, German and Spanish in college many years ago and have taught Spanish for 27 years and have been studying Mandarin in my limited free time for over 10 years now. I use these dvds to review/learn very basic nouns and a few verbs in these languages which is fun for me and to learn a little Italian along the way. It's fun for me. Don't know how effective these dvds will be for very young kids. They probably would be used best w/ a parent or teacher that listens w/ them and directs some kind of review or practice with them esp with someone who has knowledge of the language in question. The pace is fairly fast for little ones or total newbies in my opinion. The "more" in the dvd of Numbers and Colors refers to house words such as window and house/bedroom furnishings, toys, and clothes. Numbers only go to 10. The Play Outside dvd includes park and playground words and some picnic/food words. Most, but not all, meanings can be guessed from the video. There are others that need help to be sure. Words like outside, inside, look for, hide need your native language. Not sure these are all native speakers but my ear hears very adequate pronunciation. I have not seen all the tracks yet. Some I have only partially viewed and I have yet to view the Spanish as I have no need.

Teaches day to day vocabulary of things in chosen language
Teaches kids vocabulary of things in the desired language. The vocabulary includes day to day items commonly seen. My son kept waiting for singing/songs because that really helps him learn but there’s not much of that.
