Large birds - Must Secure Top Access
Reviewing product as advertised:About this item I am reviewing EACH point listed for this product in Amazon. This crates details are:🐓 Great for transporting turkeys, chickens, ducks, peacocks and other large fowl.🐓 Easy-to-slide top and side doors for placing birds or small animals in and letting them out.🐓 Smaller holes on the floor than on the sides. Hand grips on the ends for lifting and carrying.🐓 Very strong and durable. Made of heavy duty plastic. Measures 30" L X 23" W x 17" H after assembled.🐓 Ships flat, but easily snaps together. (May need the aid of a rubber mallet.)My review of the above products 5 points:1) Yes great for transport birds listed BUT warning for Peacocks. We purchased an expensive Peahen(female). Put her in this crate. The top was locked very tight. I had to use my entire body with two hands to both unlock and lock top of crate.Animal panicked and broke through top of crate (top lid popped out of its track, but not broken). The Peahen flew off into the trees.**YOU MUST SECURE TOP WITH ADDITIONAL STRAPS OR TIE- DOWNS to prevent breakout of strong birds that have to power to fly straight up. **2)Easy to slide doors etc. NO- for the top entry door, I had the crate-back against my body using both hands to pull open the Top. Closing is also hard, but that was expected. Door slides over tabs to prevent it from opening. The Peahen flew straight up and knocked door right out if it’s track. Not broken. I was able to put back, and re-lock, but again tie down the top.The side door very hard to pull back with hands whether opening it shutting. It was a struggle and you don’t need that when trying to place an animal/bird/duck/goose/peacock inside.3)Honestly, I never noticed handgrips. We just put fingers through the sides and carried.4) Agree- crate is strong if you make sure you have correctly put it together (securely snapped together). Tabs must be hammered all the way in and that’s a challenge even with a rubber mallet.5)Yes, it’s shipped in sections you must put it together. This was not an easy task. No instructions, although pretty self explanatory, although I would have been comforted by basic instructions.Yes you line up the pieces with the matching tabs. I hammered so hard my rubber mallets had pieces breaking off. I finally got it. I found hammering and lining up tabs not to be an easy chore. For snapping together it took a good hour trying to get it together. This was a real challenge.I’ve been doing birds, wildlife, waterbirds for about 50 years. I used all sorts of containers. I like this crate especially protecting their wings vs wire crates. This crate is easy to clean, wash down, and sanitize. Our penhen was finally transported for about 2 hours. She was non-stressed, settled with plenty of space.I have very strong hands and honestly this was difficult for me to put together.I would still recommend this crate for transport ducks, geese, peacocks but for Peacocks. For large strong birds like Peacocks- **YOU MUST TIE DOWN THE PLASTIC TOP WITH STRAPS OR YOU MAY LOSE YOUR BIRD IF IT BREAKS OUT LIKE MINE.**For Peafowl: Suggest tying down top entry and use side entry only, so you don't lose your valuable cargo.I bought the crate specifically for transporting larger birds. Again I’m **WARNING DO NOT TRUST THE PLASTIC TOP ENTRY. ** Strap it down, save yourself, the animal and possible money spent on the escapee.Putting the crate together, I suggest having two people and recommend that for support and strength. Putting it together requires strength this job will get done much faster with that second person. This purchase should have not cost me one hour of time, maybe 20 mins, at most.I still love this crate despite what I went through. The birds seem safe, comfortable and non stressed when they settled down for transport. Really that’s the goal.

This worked well to bring turkeys home.
This worked well to bring turkeys home in. Only problem we had was getting the sliding door on. It took a little work because we were afraid we might break it as rough as we had to get with it to get the door to snap on. Once on though it worked perfectly. It's easy to clean by just spraying with a hose or power washer.

I would buy it again
It’s a nice, very sturdy crate. It *is* heavy, but that comes with being sturdy. Once you fill it with birds you’ll likely need help to carry it. The dimensions are accurate to the description but the “4-5 turkeys” bit is seriously exaggerated. I wouldn’t put over 4 of my half-grown heritage poults in there and then not for very long at all. I didn’t expect it to hold full-grown turkeys and certainly not broad-breasted turkeys, despite the advertising. I can humanely put maybe 6 of my Cornish Cross broilers in, and that is what I bought it for. What I’m saying is, “Buy the next size up from what you need, because they run small.”I suspected that the one I received might have been a return because one of the tabs on one of the doors was broken nearly off, there were no instructions for assembly and no other documentation in the box. It arrived in a plastic bag, in the box. It just looked like a return to me... like someone sent it back but the merchant didn’t notice the broken bit or the missing information and just sent it back out to the next buyer. Having read some of the other reviews though, it appears the norm to ship it with no instructions, etc. It would have been nice to have instructions but I figured it out without too much trouble.Bottom line: It’s annoying that a piece was broken off (not a big deal in this case), that the stated capacity is... very optimistic, imo, and that there are no instructions, but I would buy it anyway. Like I said, it’s a good solid crate. Star removed for broken tab, star removed for lack of instructions + (imo) overly optimistic representation of capacity.

Disappointing for the amount of money spent
Just has not met expectations - works fine for the purpose and hopefully will last a long time BUT, came packaged poorly with NO instructions or any paper work. You would assume it was straight forward assembly but there are a few important items not obvious - for example, door swing in or door swing out? since it can't do both, there are handle indents molded into the side panels, but you do not know that so I put some panels on backwards (handles on inside) and there is a certain side that needs to go in so the slots fit better in the space. Does not seem like a big deal until you realize that once these are together they are almost impossible to get apart to fix and you risk breaking them trying to take apart. Also, because of poor packaging I had a part that was broken for the side door - I made it work without it (using wire ties) but should not have come this way.Disappointing for the amount of money spent. There are similar crates out there for almost half - I got these because over night delivery through Amazon Prime and I had to have them before Thanksgiving. As my luck would have it, only 3 showed up before Thursday - wasn't perfect but I made three work.

Really like the box
We really like this coop. We have purchased two and use it mostly for a fish box and it works great. Maybe some instructions on putting it together would be good but not too hard to figure it out. Would recommend.

Could be better
The box came half opened and no instructions. Buyer beware if you inset one of the panels flipped around getting it back out is terrible. Expected better for the price you pay.
