Perfect for pairs of casual, low heeled womens shoes. Stilettos or mens shoes don't fit as a pair, but can remove dividers.
For my purposes, this shoe organizer is a home run! I am a middle aged woman who leads a casual lifestyle and works in a casual office setting. What this translates to, is that I don't wear/own 3 inch stilettos or high platform shoes. There are many negative reviews that mention the compartments are too small to hold their shoes. This is true, IF you are wanting to store heels more than 3" high, or if you want to stand pairs side-by-side. If you flip one pair and store them much like they do in a shoebox (toe end to heel end), one pair should easily fit in each cubby.I am not using this for my husband's shoes either. If you are wanting storage for mens shoes, keep in mind that only one shoe (not a pair) will fit in each cubby. The only shoes of my husbands that would fit as a pair, are his slippers/sandals.For me however, this holds 15 pair of size 7.5 shoes perfectly and I couldn't be happier.I purchased two of these - - - one for my casual, every-day shoes. These range from sandals, slip-ons, and even Dansko clogs. The Dansko's are my go-to everyday pair. They are also the tightest fit in one cubby, so I have to admit that more often than not, I don't put these away every day and just leave these sitting in front of the cube for the next day instead.I am using the other organizer for my business/dressy shoes. Because these nicer shoes are less often used and they have leather or patent leather finishes that I don't want scuffed, I put one side in a shoe bag before storing the pair in one cubby. One side is bagged so the pair isn't rubbing against each other, but one side is still visible so I can see which pair it is.Side note, I am standing this vertically in my closet (so it's 19"wide and 24"high). If doing this, take note that although there are no "feet" on this unit that prohibits changing the orientation, two of the thin edges of the 19" sides are unfinished. When standing in a vertical position, these two unfinished edges are visible. In my situation, in a closet, butted up against another shelving unit, these edges are hidden. If you are thinking of using this vertically, in an open area where it would be seen from both sides, take this into consideration.Assembly was a cinch too - - one person, phillips screwdriver, small hammer, 15 minutes from opening box to completion.

Easy to assemble, a bit smaller than I thought
I ordered two of these for my new apartment to organize the closet and make more efficient use of space. The two boxes shipped together inside a bigger Amazon box. I was a little worried because the Amazon box was pretty beat up by the time it arrived at my door, but the contents inside were protected, so no damaged pieces. It took me a little over an hour to assemble the units together by myself. I had purchased a pink tool set that had a little electric cordless drill and a hammer. Enough to get the job done. It's a rectangular frame that I assembled using my little drill for the screws, if I had used a screwdriver it would have taken me a lot longer. After that, I nailed the little cardboard piece to the back with the little nails provided and then insert the shelving slots, not rocket science. It's hard to get the backing flat, but you can't see it after inserting the shelving dividers. The space is small, flats and flip flops fit easily into one slot with no problems My sneakers also fit into a slot neatly. High heels and platform shoes required a slot for each shoe, leaving me less space than I thought. Two thing to be careful when hammering the little nails in. Angle the nail properly, if you can't get it to be straight, then angle to point it outward. One of the nails broke through to the inside a caused a slight chip, not very noticeable. Remove thumb promptly once you tap the nail into place. My thumb is a bit sore after assembling these from accidental hammering. The end result is pretty neat. I stacked the two units together and they fit neatly into my closet with plenty of space all around it (did I mention they were smaller than I thought?) The chip I had caused, and the not so flat backing were both hidden by the shelving slots. I'll probable be ordering more of these for more shoes that didn't fine a home and for the bedroom closet to store other stuff.

Honestly, not bad!
This product is very good for a quick storage fix. Not something I would recommend for a lomg term solution because it is made of particle board and laminated white. It is great though to use in a closet or childs bedroom to hold smaller items. Women's shoes work well in the cubby spaces, but they must be stacked ontop of each other. No side-by-side action happening here at all. Also nothing bigger than a basic athletic running shoe. I have my converse and running shoes in mine and it worls great. Men's shoes though, if they are much bigger than mine (7.5 size) then I would not recommend for that. It is very easy to assemble and does not take very long. The only thing I would change is that inside shelves do not lock into the walls until you nail in the back which is only thick cardstock/board and it cam rip fairly easy. Over all though it is a good product for the price and small enough to tuck away average size closet! (I have two of them fitting in my closet). :)
