Really fun for my impatient nearly 3 year old, easy to put together, the train is super smart and very durable!!!

I would put the best lego for 2-5 years old in terms of fun-to-play, investment value and high visibility for party playing, especially for boys.A premium upgrade from the last Duplo train system. Adding 5 push and go functions for train through color sensors, a mobile APP with fair UX for 2-5 years, and is compatible with old train system as well.Design your open railway system. Unlike traditional Follow-Build-Done, you can port old Duplo train or buy additional 10874(new car), 10882 and 10872(railway accessory) to build railway system at your own design, help grow child’s imagination and keep it fresh for longer.Interestingly I found children older than 5 or even adults still like it, although I only bought it for my 1 year old son. Why not? A large open world train system embedded with high tech, which is also good value for long time keeping. As of mid-Dec 2018, many retail store sold out ebay price are doubled. Should consider it your budget is ok to buy $200 gift for a 2-5 years old.There may be some arguments saying it lack AI features as a high price tag premium Lego, like not integrating with Alexa or Google Home, no Autopilot from Tesla software as an electrical train. Really great toy. My 3 year old loves it and had no problem learning how to make the train move forward. He is still learning how to lay the tracks so that they make a loop, but he will get there. We have purchased 3 additional sets since this one to make bigger and bigger circuits. I also find it fun to play with it while spending time with my son. We have not used the app since we are trying to minimize any screen time till our children get older.The only complaint I have is that one of the contacts for the battery inside the train was pushed down after changing batteries, and cause the train not to work. I was able to get it back in the right place to make it work again. However, I think I will need to do this each time we change batteries. Not the end of the world, but a bit disappointing since I have come to expect very high quality from Lego.Pros-I can't think of a 3-6 year old who would not love this toy. Fun for adults also to spend time with your kids.-You can buy more sets and build as large as you want-Safe for <1 year olds since there are no piece small enough to choke on (although they may take apart your creation :) )-Overall, very durable and should last a very long timeCons-Some issues with the contacts for the batteries in the train (fixable, but a bit of an annoyance)-Train is a bit noisy and I wish it made more of a present sound than a buzzing electric motor-A bit pricey, but I think it is worth it for the good quality Lego toys have

I can't say enough about the Duplo train sets. My 3 year old grandson is obsessed with trains right now. So of course grandma had to stock him up. I got the red duplo train set and got the app on my phone and he Loves it. So then we had to get the orange train set and the expansion track pack! He loves being able to run the trains himself, they just push and go. Super easy, super easy to connect. They don't break, he can put them together easily and he LOVES the addition of the app. The app has games related to the train and you can also make the train go and stop and change the color of the lights on the train all from the app. He's figured it all out by himself. The tracks are easy to put together and take apart when he comes over and leaves. My 2 year old grandson loves it too. We just ordered the toy story train to add to it.

Bought this 3 years ago; it still works well and the kids still love and play with it. Great for kids 3 and up. Sturdy and easy to build, highly recommend for a Christmas/Birthday present

My 4 year old originally asked Santa for a Thomas Super Station and Santa being super knowledgeable knew that it wasn’t compatible with the Thomas set we already have, so he found this. Amazon had a sale and this was knocked down in price significantly and comparable to the Thomas set. Needless to say this was far better of an idea. Thank goodness for Santa’s toy knowledge. Anywhoo, this train is awesome. One push and it travels around the track. It also has thes cool tiles that you just put on the track and it makes sound or completes an action when it rolls over them. My sons love the train along with the other Duplo included, especially the crane and boat. Finally, this train connects to its own app, which we haven’t gotten around to trying because on its own it still provides a lot of entertainment, but I will be willing to try the app one day. This toy is an awesome addition to the current Dulpo we already have!!!

This LEGO Duplo train set is good, but does have one design flaw. The negative is the fact the crane has no crank handle for lowering & raising the hook. This would of made the operation of the crane so much easier for little hands. It makes it so much harder for littles to play with by having to turn gear which is not so easy to do. At this price point, I think they could have come up with something better for the crane.

FUN for the WHOLE family. This toy knocked it out of the park. My 3,4 and 6 year old LOVE this and can play for hours. Literally. Appreciate all the extra fun duplo blocks. We need more train tracks to keep the fun up!
