A BRILLIANT PIECE OF KIT, A REAL PROBLEM SOLVER.
Has solved our problem of an elderly mother with Alzheimer's forgetting to take her medication or more often than not, taking them all in a short space of time! She absolutely loves it, thinks it's marvellous and has quickly gotten used to flipping over the unit to drop out the tablets to take and so shutting off the alarm. We purchased the solid lid which I would recommend as our mother is one for "tinkering" with things so she can't see what's inside and we fill it weekly using a second refill carousel, taking the empty one out, putting the full one in, easy! We've had no problems whatsoever with tablets, even quite small ones, "migrating" into other chambers and my only negative point, is to agree with another reviewer that the access to the battery compartment should be via a screw fitting, (as our mother will tinker about) and in opening the compartment, she broke the warranty seal on the unit invalidating the warranty. But that said, the unit works brilliantly, so much so, her GP asked for the supplier details in order to purchase units for her own parents. A brilliant piece of kit that should be considered for NHS supply particularly to Alzheimer/Dementia patients.

An excellent product
This product has ensured my mother can continue to live independently and safely while managing her own medication. She is in the early stages of dementia which, coupled with the ‘brain fog’ of chemotherapy, caused her to accidentally take three days of meds in one day from her previous docit box! The TabTime has eased my worries and prevented carers from having to be employed.I organise and program the TabTime each week - my mother would not be able to do this. I found it a little confusing to initially set up the clock and timers, but now I have it figured out it is easy. The lock is a little stiff and the TabTime isn’t easy to open but that’s reassuring in a way as I don’t want my mother to be able to open it.I’m not sure how we will know that the batteries are low which is my only concern: what if they run out on a day where I am not calling round? My mother would simply forget to tell me it has stopped working, but we will cross that challenge when it arrives and in the meantime I would definitely recommend the TabTime for peace of mind with the organisation of meds especially for someone with dementia or learning difficulties. The alarm system is a fantastic feature with no buttons to press when it goes off: just tip the meds out and it automatically stops alarming!

Wonderful device!
I bought this just over a month ago for my 88 year old father who has dementia. It is proving very useful, as the problem was that previously he would sometimes take one day's tablets, then wake up after a nap and take the next day's as well. With this dispenser he can't take too many. He just takes 3 tablets at the same time each day so it can be loaded up for a whole 28 days at a time.On some days he still forgets to take the tablets or is not in the room during the half hour when it beeps, but I ring him every day either during the half hour it will be beeping (can hear it in the background near the phone!), or soon afterwards and ask him to tell me what day it says in the dispenser compartment and whether there are any tablets in it.He also seems to be using it sometimes himself to find out what day of the week it is so that is good (I had bought him a wall clock with the days of the week on it but it seems he forgets to look at that!) Altogether I am very pleased with this product - it also arrived very promptly after ordering.

Changed ours and my mums lives
I have no idea why occupational therapist and GP's don't recommend these. It has changed our lives and my mums for the better. Its easy to set up - just like setting an alarm clock. V sturdy. Can't be accessed by my.mum but leave her medication there for her to take at the alarm time.We couldn't get carers to her home early enough and reliably daily to give her this medication which calms her down when she first wakes up. This box solved all the problems so easily and is worth every penny. After speaking to my mums GP she is now recommending it to her dementia/elderly patients/people wanting to have control of their own medication.

Indispensable aid and great value!
This is a great bit of kit and has become indispensable for my father who has Parkinson's and dementia. Dad got totally confused as to what pills he had to take when and, even when organised by us into separate pill boxes, would both forgot to take them or take tablets in advance. It is relatively easy to programme, has the facility for up to 6 alarms per day, and the long alarm sounder period is a real benefit and has subconsciously trained everyone in the house at the time to attend to Dad's pill, whatever they are doing! We have had it for about a month now and it is still on its original batteries, so we will have to see how economical it is. Only niggles are that the original dispenser we had didn't operate properly, but Tab Time replaced it straight away, the number of compartments are not exactly divisible by 6 (number of alarms Dad needs each day), and Dad has said that the smooth finish of the case makes it slippery and difficult to grasp. We can cope easily with the 'odd' number of compartments and I believe there are pill dispenser 'tippers' on the market so we will look at getting one of them. Overall a very practical item that fulfils our requirements and great service from Tab Time.
