Heavy Duty!
These are heavy duty! You can feel the quality just holding them! No strain at all while using the can opener and the Pizza cutter is not dull at all!

Heavy Duty
No doubt about it. This a solid, heavy duty, ergonomic set made to last if not a lifetime, at least decades. But do you really need it? The answer to that depend on your budget and cooking needs. Also it depends on your grip strength. These are built with serious cooks in mind, and some of the tools may be difficult to use if you do not have strong hands. For me, the clear stand out is the garlic press. I use garlic cloves just about every day and I have never found a garlic press that I was happy with. This garlic press is hands down the best I've every tried and honestly I couldn't imagine a better take on it. It is solid, and with one firm squeeze pressed out several large cloves, leaving almost nothing behind. One, caveat. You need to able to apply quite a bit of force to make it happen. This tool should last pretty much forever. My second favorite is the ice cream scooper. It is solid and with just a bit of practice you can roll out perfect smallish scoops of ice cream. It also works great to scoop out seeds from melons or cookie dough. I see no reason why this won't be passed down through the generations.Next up is the can opener. Can openers tend to fail when they start to rust, but with stainless steel, problem solved. However the solidness of this opener come with a price. It takes a lot of strength to work. It is harder to operate than my flimsy can opener, although the alignment is way better and there are no false starts or incomplete runs. The gears look solid and should last a good long time, but because there are moving part, something may get out of alignment at some point. The vegetable peeler is also very nice. I like it best for hand-held, controlled peeling of fruit and potatoes. The large metal top shields fingers from the blade, making it safe to peel towards you, as well as away from you and the easy swing of the blades provides fine control. It is also great at getting that perfect strip of lemon peel for a cocktail. However, when I used it to peel large vegetables, like carrots on a flat surface, it is OK but in all honestly I prefer my inexpensive peeler for that task which as an added bonus also make matchsticks. The blades will need to be maintained, which is tricky to do.The pizza slicer is the biggest surprise. Most of us don't need to slice pizza on a daily basis, but it is also great for trimming crust and cutting slices of bread and even cutting cookies. Also it can quickly slice lettuce leaves, even when they are already in a bowl with just a light pass. It can also be used on herbs. Basically, it is a multi-purpose rotary cutter. The only downside is that the blade will need to maintained which isn't easy. The set comes with a lovely birchwood storage tray that fit neatly into the corner of a kitchen drawer, leaving plenty of room for other kitchen tools.I think the set is defiantly worth its hefty price tag, but it isn't something everyone will feel justified purchasing. However I think nearly any experienced cook would be very happy to receive this set as a gift.

HEAVY Duty
These kitchen utensils are very high quality and also very heavy weight which I actually prefer for my kitchen tools. These will definitely stand up to the test of time. The pizza cutter works incredibly well, very sharp edge and smooth cutting. All of the utensils work well overall, absolutely zero complaints. The holder they come with is beautiful and high quality as well although you definitely need ample drawer space if you want them to remain in the wood holder as it takes up a lot of space. Well worth the cost. Highly recommend.

Superb Quality, High Price
I need to start this review by saying this set is not for everyone. At $195 when writing this review, this kitchen gadget set is priced well above most anything similar. You can find good gadgets for a fraction of that price. Now that I've said those things, though, I will add this - these are some of the best kitchen gadgets I've ever used, easily. They are heavy but comfortable, and extremely well-made and durable. They feel ergonomic and look simple but elegant. This set is clearly meant to stand out, and it does that very well. If you have the money to spend on such a set, I do not think you'll be disappointed.

Great look but functionality could've been thought through better
As with any Caraway product, at $200 for a set of basic kitchen utensils, you're mostly paying for the brand name and the look. Functionality is not just assumed, I expect it to be perfect and flawless. While the look, indeed, does not disappoint with a modern and minimalistic appearance, functionality and in a couple of cases, minor quality issues mar the overall picture. Let's go gadget by gadget:1. Can Opener. Getting it locked in is a little challenging. Subjectively more challenging than my previous $5 generic can opener from Target. Once locked, the operation is generally smooth except that every turn I run into a spot that gets harder to turn than the rest. I think there's an imperfection in manufacturing and/or alignment here. To emphasize, this would not be anything I'd be writing about for a generic can opener, but I do expect better from Caraway. 3 stars for this gadget.2. Pizza cutter. Very sharp. You don't want to be touch the edge on this one. Bizarrely, it also has the same problem of one spot in the turn which is harder than the rest. This is more apparent when you just try to turn it without rather than when cutting pizza. 4 stars.3. Garlic press. This gadget is often disappointing in a generic version b/c apparently it's really hard to make a garlic press that just works. I'm glad to report that Caraway came through on this one, as it works very well. I think this is they got right. I'm graduating from an old IKEA garlic press, which also worked really well, but is a lot smaller. Caraway version is quite large and can fit several cloves at the same time, it is also very easy to clean, as it comes apart entirely into 2 pieces. I do have to say that it is somewhat less efficient than what IKEA's press does in terms of amount of garlic left overs in the press after the fact. No matter, garlic is cheap, so it's not a worry. 5 stars.4. Ice cream scoop. Another gadget Caraway got right. It's a pleasure to use. The leading edge is also surprisingly sharp. 5 stars.5. Peeler. This one is odd. The peeler in my set came with the blade bent (see pic). I've seen this happen once on some cheaper peeler I've purchased years ago. It generally meant that the angle of the blade was ruined and the peeler is trash at that point. Not the case for Caraway. I do not know whether the bent blade is by design or it got damaged in the shipping, but it certainly works REALLY well. This is by far the sharpest and the smoothest peeler I've worked with, much smoother than the old Oxo peeler I'm graduating from. Nevertheless, this is the one appliance where Caraway didn't think the functionality through fully. When peeling apples, potatoes or other fruits or veggies, there are inevitably bad spots that happen that need careful and precise cutting out. This is usually accomplished by including a sharp edge on the peeler. On the Oxo peeler that part looks like a miniature shovel. No such functionality with Caraway peeler. Just the looks. 3 stars.6. Gadget tray. Fits the gadgets really well, as expected. The woodworking on it is quite good. 5 stars.
