Shark killed it!
Where to start? I have 4 dogs. Enough said. Cleaning my carpets is a pretty regular chore for me each month. I have always been loyal to one brand, mostly because said company supports rescue pets. And I tend to go through machines almost every other year. It has nothing to do with brand or quality, but because I use the Hell out of them. Enough about me, let get to the problem at hand. 12 year old boxer just started a new medicine. It's been rough getting his tummy to adjust. In one night we accumulated 9 vomit stains between my room and down tje hall. I got about 1/3 of just my room done before my trusty 3 year old machine just stopped. Amazon overnight to the rescue!! I never owned a Shark brand shampooer. Like I said, I was total brand snob. But this machine was 100 bucks less than replacing my old machine. The reviews looked good. And at the price point if 150, even it it only lasts me a year, I would be getting my money worth. Small confession, my need to shampoo all the time, had very little to do with all the dogs. It's me. I'm the problem. I like things clean. Some people (my close friends and family) may even say I'm a bit OCD. Back to this Shark. LOVE IT!! I almost hate to admit it, but I think this may be my new brand. I got the blue one without the built on attachments, because I have a small hand shampoo machine that I love. Pros: This machine is light weight. Easy to push/pull. I appreciate having the option to do a quick dry. Low profile so I can get under my nightstands. Thick brushes that seem to get a deep scrub, and not just surface spots. Like how there is no trigger to squeeze to dispense solution water. It's a simple push forward to spray and pull back to suck up the water. The solution that came with the cleaner did a great job and each stain only needed a couple passes. Taking apart the machine to clean the filter and brush was easy because everything is accessible. Now the cons: small tank. May not be a deal breaker for most. But I gotta be honest, this part was almost annoying. The clean water and the dirty water tank is about half the size of my old machine. I knew that when I purchased it, and thought as long as it does a great job, I'll get over it. Ugh, I'm sure I will in time. Between shampooing and having to full and dump 4 times, I'm pretty sure I got my steps in today. I ended up using the whole bottle that came with the machine. And that's fine, I just wasn't thinking about how small the tanks are. At least I now know, to order a big bottle because the 12oz only did my room and the hallway. Luckily my old dog seems to have adjusted to his meds, so he won't bankrupt me just from purchasing shampoo. Conclusion: This was my first go at using it and I'm impressed with how well it cleaned. As for how long it will last someone who cleans often, like me, time will tell.

LOVE IT!!
I researched a lot of different carpet cleaners. I've also had lots of different kinds of carpet cleaners over the years. I've had inexpensive all the way to top-of-the-line expensive. After watching many reviews of real-life experiences and reading a heck of a lot of reviews, I told my sweet husband this shark carpet cleaner is what I wanted. He bought it for me for Christmas. I vacuumed my carpet for quite some time, as one should before deep cleaning with a carpet cleaner machine, so there would not be any hair/fur/whatever and make the job that much more difficult for the carpet cleaner. Let me tell you, this big boy is POWERFUL and VERY efficient. Every other carpet cleaner I've had in the past had done a pretty good job but I always thought that too much water remained in the carpet, even after going over and over slowly with just suction. It would still take hours to dry. I thought that's just how these kinds of machines are, I guess. Well that is until this shark xpert. Not only does it clean very well, it uses far less water, and actually sucks it all back up so drying time is minimal. I was shocked the first time the dirty water tank signaled it was full (which it does by immediately stopping suction and the sound of the machine gets higher, like something is clogged) because there was so much water left in the clean water tank and yet there was so much water in the dirty water tank! It kind of blew my mind. The weight of the cleaner is far lighter than most cleaners I've had in the past, but not all. It's a little heavier than a standard shark vacuum. If you don't have a shark vacuum, then the closest I can give for comparison is a Hoover or a Bissell. I think both brands of vacuums are quite heavy, and they are also very loud. This cleaner might be slightly louder than a standard Hoover or Bissell, but that's it. My back was not achy after cleaning carpets all afternoon in my house, and I have to say that has not been my experience in the past with every other carpet cleaner I've owned. I'm not sure if the weight distribution is better or what but I was not even tired when I was done.Set up was a breeze since all you have to do is attach the handle and unwrap everything from the plastic bags, then it's ready to go. The dirty water tank is not awkward or unwieldy to take out or put back in, as many of my other cleaners have been. It was a very simple "reach down, press the latch to undo, take it out." That's it. It emptied easily into the toilet and came back together in one simple snap. I always rinse the tank before reattaching; I guess it just makes me feel better starting the next go with a clean tank. The clean water tank was also very easy to take off; you literally lift up the handle and the rest just comes right out. No leaking from either the dirty or clean water tanks when taken off, by the way. The clean water tank is very simple to fill and it's sturdy enough to sit on its own in the sink while you fill it up with hot water.I never, ever use the amount of cleaner suggested, by the way. Cleaning anything is mostly done by water alone, but the surfactants are what attract the dirt to the surface to be washed away. You simply do not need THAT much cleaner to do the job. If you use the amount theb company suggests on the tank, you will get residue in your carpet. It may not be a whole lot, but it will add up over the years and become harder and harder to clean and keep clean. I would suggest you only use a little less than a tablespoon of whatever cleaner you decide; it will absolutely get the job done and you won't have any residue after you're done. Remember, shark wants you to use more cleaner so you'll buy more cleaner. A little really does go a long way. And you can spot clean your carpet before you use your machine with a little rubbing alcohol. But don't put any rubbing alcohol in the tank. A little tip for you.The carpet cleaner is very easy to use, and no buttons or triggers to press/push the whole time, so no hand fatigue. It's as simple as "go forward, machine puts down water while suctioning, pull back to suck up water only." There is a little button on the machine you press if you want suction all the time only. That's a handy feature if you want to go over your freshly washed carpet to take out as much water as you can. It makes drying A LOT faster. All in all, I really, really love this carpet cleaner. Easy to use, evenly distributed weight, few buttons to push, gets the job done fabulously.Highly, highly recommend.

This cleaner did not jump the shark
So far so good. It has one roller which is good, easy to clean and easy to take the roller out to clean. Much better than two rollers which seem to always break as the carpet gets caught. The dirty water tank gets filled quick and the soap tank gets empty quick because they are smaller but not a problem. There's two modes deep clean and air dry air dry just cleans the watery soap off the carpet and deep clean puts the soap on the carpet as the unit goes forward and sucks the soap off as you pull it back. This might seem counterintuitive to the trigger release models but it's quite effective and you actually save a lot of time and money on soap and after a few minutes you will figure out the best approach to the system I think it's a superior system than most carpet cleaners as I've gone through four in the last 2 years broke them all this one I haven't broke yet and it seems to have a different way of working which I'm confident will give me better usage time. The shark is the way to go for smaller apartments and houses
