I bought this for my daughter that has a cabin in the mountains and no ice maker with her fridge. It's perfect because when she leaves all she has to do is unplug it until she goes back. I also bought one for my other daughter that's apt fridge has no ice maker. With two teenagers that drink water all day this was heaven sent to them.I also have a little beach furnished apt with no ice maker so I'll be ordering one for myself. What's great is it has two choices for ice size which we love. You won't be disappointed!

First of all, it is an ice maker and it makes ice. It’s reasonably fast, too. But it isn’t a freezer so the made ice doesn’t stay frozen for long. Be prepared to move the ice to a freezer if you want it to keep. And be prepared for dripping water when you do that because the melted ice is supposed to fall through the slots in the holding bin into the water reservoir but not all of it does. With those warnings, we are very happy with its performance at the price. It does take up counter space so make sure you have a spot for it.
