I bought this to give to a friend who wanted a representative Katana for display. Aside from perhaps dispatching a few melons, it's not going to be used for anything serious. I decided to go with this sword because of the high number of positive comments that purchasers have left. With 4.8 out of 5 stars, it definitely deserved a closer look. Based upon my inspection of the sword, I concur that this piece deserves five stars. I really did not expect a whole lot of quality, but I knew I could return it if I was not satisfied. To my surprise, I found this to be pretty darn nice for the money. It's solid, everything that should be tight is, it's very sharp, and it looks quite nice. It's a little lighter in weight than other Katanas, seems very durable, and everything fits together well. Even though it's not going to see any appreciable degree of use, I feel that it would do well. All things considered, this is a very good value.

Absolutely beautiful in person

The sword looks just like the picture. It's a great value for the price. I bought it for my husband, and he loves it. The size is perfect, and it's very sharp, capable of cutting through tree limbs and thin branches. Overall, it's of good quality and in excellent condition.

Fantastic craftsmanship. Lacquered wood is the sheath. Beautifully painted handle with wrapped rope, and the blade is definitely high quality steel. Perfect for terrifying your enemies. Just kidding. Such a katana should be cherished for as long as you can

The sword is very sturdy and well made overall, some complaints i do have is about the Habaki (Metal piece above the guard) came a little loose after a few hours of use. The blade itself comes extremely sharp but will dull due to sheathing it because of the cheapness of the saya (sheath) It is not waxed or coated in animal pelt. Which you should not expect from a cheaper sword but that's really the only downside besides the blade, the shiny purple paint of the blade comes off easily but the design remains. I personally like the faded purple/grey blade more than it was when brand new. The handle is wrapped well and the spacer is solid. although its on the cheaper side the balance of the sword is surprisingly good, the sword feels almost weightless when striking . The handle may feel alienating to you hand but the size is perfect for me (I have average sized hands). Overall the sword is a great buy for people who are looking to have an affordable sword
