EDCL1-T

I myself have had one of these lights for over two years, and I take it everywhere. I like it so much I got another to give to my sister who is a LEO. If you’re familiar with SF, you already know the quality of build. These lights are stout. Here’s where this light in particular shines - illuminating people, vehicles, animals, objects, or whatever else at a distance, at night. The high beam is very concentrated and focused, and it will pierce the night a long ways out. The beam is also good for getting people’s attention at a distance. I had not had this light 24 hrs and there was a nasty car wreck a couple streets down from my house at 0500 involving a car and a semi. The axles of the semi were sitting in the dark right smack dab in the lane of a 45 mph street, and I was able to illuminate the axles and large metal debris in the road so oncoming cars did not hit it until CHP came and took control of the situation, so this light paid for itself within hours of me getting it. I myself am a pilot, so I use it for parts of my preflight at night. It’s great for checking wings, control surfaces, and ice boots well out of reach. Here’s where it is not good - inside tight engine nacelles, or if you are looking for something in your car. It is just too bright up close. This is what the low beam is for. The beams go from one side of the spectrum to the other no in between. It’s either really bright, or fairly dim. The light has some heft, but that just part of it. It carries well in the pocket, just have to watch your car seat. It has good battery life for what I use it for, and I just top it off occasionally, and that has worked fine for me. This light is not cheap, but for what it does and it’s intended purpose, I think this is a good value, and that’s why I have purchased two, and given one to my sister. I have had 15 SF lights over the years, and currently have 9. SF is all I use because over the years they have proven themselves absolutely reliable, and tough as nails.

The overall build quality was impressive right out of the box. I have over 10 tactical flashlights, some being Fenix, Streamlight, Nextorch, and Nitecore. Fenix has been my EDC for a while now, that is until the Surefire arrived today. Each light I own has its own specific use, some being geared more towards throw (search) for long distance applications, while others simply have high lumens and good spill. It's very rare that I am impressed with both the reach/throw and the overall brightness (lumens) of a tactical flashlight. I was absolutely blown away by the reach shown in the video as the stop sign shown being lit up is over 500 meters away. This Surefire is absolutely blinding, if you need a light to penetrate through smoke, tinted windows, or just long distance with good spill I highly recommend this light. Out of the box the battery took 5+ hours to fully charge, however regular charging cycles for EDC use shouldn't be this long as the battery usually ships to you close to depleted. The pocket clip is two way, making it possible to attach it to your baseball cap or other exterior parts. The light sits comfortably in the pocket of a pair of jeans, although it will not ride fully to the left or right of the pocket, due to it's height it sits a little more to the center. (No problem if you don't carry a lot in that pocket) The user interface is extremely easy to understand, one click for high, two half clicks for low. And let me tell you how impressed I was with the low setting as well, for the extended battery life you get I was very surprised at how bright the low setting still appeared to be, and by it's throw. Solid 10/10 torch, lightweight, good runtime performance, great quality. If you're a firefighter, LEO, or just a prepared citizen like myself, do yourself a solid and pick up this light!

I've had different models of Surefire lights for different purposes over the years. My department at the time issued the now discontinued 6PX Defender (320 Lumen model), I later got the G2X Pro (320 Lumen model with 15 Lumen low) which became my EDC light for the next 5yrs. Eventually I got the G2X Pro (600 lumen model with 15 lumen low), while it's a superb light, I didn't much care for the size or carry methods anymore. Enter, the EDCL2-T which has been in my pocket or my NutSac bag for the last 2yrs. The size still drives me bonkers some days, but the value is worth the slight annoyance. I get ridiculously bright lights because I actually use them in high mode most of the time, and the low output is used for close in tasks. I run my EDCL2-T on Surefire approved rechargeable cells so I still get the advertised runtime, and overall output. That brings up my only major gripe, which is the 1hr full power run time. I suppose to some this may be a long time, but I do use my lights EVERY SINGLE NIGHT and often for extended periods. This means I'm sticking batteries into the charger a LOT, but I'm still not giving up the light. The gas pedal switch is a love it or hate it situation. I personally LOVE it, and wish all my lights had this setup; that said I am VERY proficient at doing the rapid tap to switch modes as I have used Surefire for more than 8yrs now. The clip admittedly feels somewhat flimsy, but in actual use it has proved to be incredibly durable. I had to crimp it down a couple times after catching it on a seat belt or vehicle seat cover. It doesn't feel like it's going to snap off anytime soon, but I did contact Surefire and order a couple extras. I was prepared to pay whatever they wanted, but they sent them over free of charge. While it can be used as a head lamp type function on a ball cap, keep in mind that the weight is quite significant at the end of your hat. Personally I find it works better to clip on my shoulder straps of work cloths. The pros say "buy once, cry once" the problem is I keep buying the high end stuff! None of my Surefire lights is anywhere close to failing, they've just been re-purposed; glove box of my wife's car, one in my dash console of the work 18 wheeler, another next to the door at home for walking the dog, etc... Whether I'm working or wearing a suit, the EDCL2-T is what I slip into my pocket leaving the house.

If you're familiar with Surefire flashlights, you probably know they've been making flashlights for a long time that have two-stage pressure switches -- press a little bit for a little light, press all the way for full blast. If you want the light to stay on, you screw-down the tailcap instead of pressing the switch. This flashlight is the newest iteration of this concept, and it works very well. It also has an optic that allows the light to spread-out more than older Surefire flashlights, so it's more of a "flooder" than a "thrower" -- and that's okay, because unlike older models, it makes enough light on the high setting that it doesn't *need* to focus the all the light into a tight beam to illuminate things far away. However, the tailcap is a bit too narrow, and the bi-directional pocket clip (which is a nice thing to have) interferes with getting a good grip on the tailcap when operating the light one-handed. So I stretched a 16mm OD x 5mm CS o-ring over the tailcap and settled it into one of the grooves on the tailcap, to give myself a larger surface to grab with my thumb and forefinger when trying to twist the tailcap one-handed. It's much easier to use this way, and the o-ring fits so tightly it can even be used as a "cigar ring" if you want to hold the flashlight between your index finger and middle finger. See attached pictures. Would buy again.

I bought this because I take early morning walks before the sun is up. So I need a bright light because of the occasional car on the dark country roads I walk on and just to see period when the moon isn't out. This more than does the trick and so far the run time and ease of use has been great. I finally figured out that you HAVE to remove the battery to charge it via the small port on one end...which was confusing at first since the instructions are vague and you are tempted tot think there is a charge port on the body itself...which if there is it is hidden very well. I hope this light holds up and time will tell but it is very bright and impressive to use...it could save your life if it makes you visible to trafic at night so considering that it isn't too expensive at least for me. I like it!

After owning the EDC2 for a year, I purchased the TAN EDC1. Comparatively, I seem to prefer the latter because it is the right length, the TAN color has a greater coefficient of friction for a more comfortable hand grip, and it is easier to carry as an EDC, and the low-light spot is a little bigger and brighter for greater utility. Of course it has a shorter illumination time and heats up faster on high brightness. What confuses me is that I can see the SF logo on the PCB of the EDC2 through the lens, but not on the EDC1. I don't know if this is an isolated case or if it's all the same.

Perfect for everyday carry. Strong source of light in both low and high mode.

Received a used Surefire EDC2-DFT. Shipping box was fine. The flashlight packaging was ripped open and had clear adhesive tape (scotch tape) attached to the side edges of product packaging trying to reseal it. All contents of the flashlight packaging was just dumped into another clear bag, maybe Amazon but it in. On top of that, a deep wear mark through the paint with scuff marks around on the bezel and then also missing the 18650 battery. At least it's a genuine Surefire product though, just used and beat up a bit, and not a counterfeit

Works well with 18350 and 16340 cells (and CR123A single use). High mode is very far reaching, low mode is a lot more useable than the EDC2 model. Very happy with it, good work torch. Use a Z68(?) end cap for ability to tail stand

Gut durchdachte Lampe mit Viel Licht und deshalb Klasse Gemacht Surefire macht wirklich Freude

It’s Surefire! By its very definition means excellence beyond expectations
