Onset HOBO MX2201 Waterproof Bluetooth Pendant Temperature Data Logger

We have a need to monitor the temperature fluctuations in all of our refrigeration units. We have used other data loggers before. They were larger and more labor-intensive. This device is about the size of a man's wristwatch. Standing near a cooler allows me to read the currents temperature and/or download the logs.

Had high hopes though was very disappointed in the end. Two times now I pulled the data logger from our tanks to read the monthly daily temperatures to find out that the thing is dead without any data. It won't connect via blue tooth to the software. Have changed the battery twice this last year and it only takes one temperature reading each 15 minutes. Will never bu this one again. Not reliable.

Programming, readout and downloading in the field with an iPhone or Android. Would prefer better absolute accuracy of temperature but my application is about comparing temperatures-not the temperature itself. I am using it to monitor fluctuations in temperature in springs and streams.

Two of these loggers failed in their first year on my field site. The more expensive HOBO loggers in the white case have lasted for many seasons without issue.

Figuring out HOBOmobile and HOBOlink can be a little complicated but doable. The Onset folks are super helpful. We use this to test different insulation packouts for perishable shipping.

The product is a good alternative (low cost) for measuring water temperature on shallow waters.

Product not durable. Broke within a week of use.
