Know The Difference Before you buy
The unit comes in two different models both units work fine except the manual dial unit has three speeds Vs the digital display unit has five fan speeds. The fans speeds on both models are not quite except for the lowest speed setting.

Nice looking unit with good power
We purchased a condo two years ago, and it always incredibly dusty inside. Right after purchasing, we had the air ducts cleaned, but it didn't seem to help, there is always a layer of dust that appears over everything. I can set my cell phone down and come back an hour later, and there is layer of dust on it. I am not sure if it is because this unit has no carpet, so the dust just circulates more instead of settling down? Whatever it is, I am willing to try anything to help alleviate this issue. So I ordered the Germ Guardian Air Purifier. I picked this one because Germ Guardian is a well-known brand, and the products are sold in many popular stores. This unit is sleek looking, which is nice for something that sits out in the main living space all of the time. I had a unit in a previous home that was a big white box shape, which was just ugly. The buttons on this unit are easy to use, and they won't get grime in them because it's just a flat surface that is easy to wipe clean. The digital display is easy to read. As far as the noise level, I would say it is pretty consistent with other purifiers I have owned. If it's on the highest level, it is pretty loud. However, it isn't usually running at that level. When it is on level 3, it can still be heard, but it is very quiet. Level 1 makes barely any fan noise at all, but then you can hear the hum of the machine, which sounds kind of similar to a refrigerator motor running. So I actually prefer level 3 overall, as the fan noise drowns out the hum, but is still not loud to the point of being overwhelming. One of the nice features about this model is that there is only one filter to replace. My big white box unit had 3 filters that needed replacing, and frankly, that's just a pain. It's very easy to remove the back and pop this filter out, which makes it easy to see when it needs to be replaced. I can tell the machine is pulling air through sufficiently well because little items near it are moving from the air movement. Also, I have found a little dog fur tumbleweed or two stuck to the back where it pulls the air in. The timer is a very nice option - since we don't live here full time, I don't want it running all the time. So I always set the timer so that I never just accidentally leave it running when we leave. Overall, this is a nice little machine, and I expect it will do a great job helping to remove some of this overwhelming dust from our home!

Works great, helps with allergies
My apartment was getting stanky, and this air purifier helped a lot with getting rid of the smell. I have a senior kitty that sheds a lot and has a lot of dander. I'm allergic to my best friend! This air purifier can help a lot with that too. It's not going to cure your allergies, but it's going to help. I have been using this for a couple of months now, and it's nice walking into my apartment and having it smell okay. It can also cut down on dust and other airborne debris. It can get rid of smoke and pollen too. I can finally breathe without it affecting me too much. My cat is breathing better too.The machine is easy to operate. It has an on off button. There's a button to change the speed of the fan. There are five speeds. It also has a timer that goes by the hour. Apparently, there's a UV light thing that can take mold spores and bacteria out of the air. I don't know how that works, but it sounds great. I haven't changed the filter yet, but it seems easy to change. It says that they work for 6 to 8 months. I haven't noticed a significant increase on my electric bill. Seems to work at low power.Overall, it's a nice air purifier, and it does the job well. I don't have any complaints so far. It has worked flawlessly for a couple months now. I can recommend this one. I'm happy to be breathing better.

Extremely unhappy - small plastic piece broke and unit won't work
When changing the filter in my unit, the the cheap plastic tab piece broke off the back panel. This means that the panel won't "click" in place and therefore the unit will not run. I contacted customer service, thinking I could just get another back panel, and I was told that the panel was out of stock and it was unknown when/if it would be available again. This means that my $100+ unit is useless - won't work - because of a cheap piece of plastic that they are unable/unwilling to replace.Extremely dissatisfied. They should be able to do better! Either make a sturdier product, or be able to provide replacement pieces when they break.

Not for 743 sq ft, only rated for 153 sq ft
I ordered this because of the 743 sq ft claim as I wanted it to work on a room that is an open floor plan of approx. 650 sq ft. So, when I looked over the product box and read that it was good for 153 sq ft I was disappointed. If you are aware of the smaller coverage area ahead of time and that is suffice for you then this will be a great unit. It does work well to clean up the air. You should notice a difference in your air quality - less stuffy and less dust around.Easy set up (plug in and start it up). Filter is easy to replace (6-8 months) but look for a generic one for a better price. It doesn't have a sleep mode but there is a timer. You will not want it on high in a bedroom while you sleep as it can be loud. Low is fine and gives you some white noise.I like the dual HEPA/charcoal filters. They claim:HEPA Filter captures 99.97% of dust and allergens as small as .3 microns such as household dust, pet dander, mold spores and plant pollens.Charcoal filter reduces common odors from pets, smoking and cooking. Removes odor and smoke particles, prevents the growth of bacteria, germs, and mold.
