The Super Mario Bros. Movie - Power Up Edition [DVD]

What an adorable movie! My child liked it but she said it was too short! My only issue is I chose DVD as a format and this movie clearly needed to be seen in Blu-ray as the CGI is very nice and would probably look cleaner on a Blu-ray player. Alas, I knew that by purchasing the cheaper option I could also afford the old Mario movie from the '90s... so I could watch both! It was enjoyable to see this Super Mario movie and compare it to the old Mario movie. I would say that this movie took full advantage of all the video game content including theme songs and it came out really well. DVD was in good condition and arrived quickly.

I purchased for my 6 years old granddaughter to watch as an alternative to watching TV while at the barn. She loves the movies.

Family-friendly movie where the only agenda is quality entertainment. There are a couple “scary” parts (Luigi’s Mansion type) toward the beginning, so - as always - parents should screen it before letting little ones watch it. We took our kids to watch this twice in theaters because it’s so rare to find a family-friendly movie worth watching. We’re happy to own it on DVD now and will definitely replace it if it gets messed up!

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 30 years since anyone made a movie based on the Mario franchise. The last movie was the infamous 1993 live-action movie. Lots of people dislike that movie mainly because it gets little to nothing about its source material right. But this movie really captures the spirit of the franchise. At least for the most part. Some exceptions are that Peach is not a damsel in distress, and the Mario Brothers don’t have Italian accents. But that doesn’t stop me from enjoying it at all. This is a fun movie that any fan of the Mario games can enjoy!

Good price! The perfect gift for my 9 year old grandson. He absolutely loves all Super Mario Bros games.

I'm not rating the quality of the Mario movie. That's what rotten tomatoes is for, not amazon. Is this an authentic edition of the Mario movie, as if you bought it in-person from the store, and not some cheap knock-off or previously used copy? Yes, this is an authentic, new Mario movie. I'm happy with this purchase.

In a world where some in Hollywood missed the mark, or had to take liberties with source materials, Illumination and Nintendo managed to put out an entertaining, and somewhat accurate, take on both the Super Mario and the Donkey Kong Country IPs. The Mario and DK characters are entertaining and interesting to follow, as well as the key plots: Mario wanting to leave a mark through his career, and the urgency to stop Bowser from taking over the Mushroom Kingdom with the Superstar (and marrying Peach). Granted, it's not perfect - especially the fast pace, the jokes(?), different origin stories from the games, and not doing a lot with Luigi or Lumalee - but it's definitely not 5/10 either as some critics gave the movie. If you're a Mario fan, or you have kids who are, definitely pick this movie up.

Difficile essere anche un minimo oggettivi quando si passano le giornate di Natale a vedere almeno una volta al giorno, tutti i giorni, il film di Super Mario Bros. La Illumination realizza un film che in meno di 90 minuti racchiude un po' tutto ciò che ci aspettavamo di vedere al Cinema, dopo diversi tentativi, sul protagonista del videogioco più famoso del mondo. Sebbene ci sia tanta carne al fuoco è un film omogeneo, con una grafica perfetta tipica dei lavori della Illumination, come Sing, Pets e i celebri Minions. Forse questo è il miglior esempio tra tutti a livello di grafica, ed è il film più cinematografico tra quelli prodotti finora da Chris Meledandri. Nonostante il film sembri ad una prima visione al Cinema un lungo spot promozionale, le spiegazioni di tante trasformazioni, di tanti personaggi che appaiono nel film come nei vari capitoli della saga di videogiochi iniziata nel 1981 hanno una loro fluidità, forse anche troppo veloce. L'idraulico più famoso del mondo (dopo Mastrolindo ovviamente) raggiunge lo status più ambito di film dell'anno per molti appassionati di videogiochi grazie ad un film che è azione concentrata all'ennesima potenza. Rivedendolo più volte, solo se veri appassionati o se costretti dai propri figli, si riesce a spegnere quella sensazione che la storia sia un semplice pretesto per portare sul grande schermo l'eroe baffuto dal cappello rosso. Anzi, ci sono molte piccole lezioncine importanti per i bambini, è quasi del tutto assente ogni tipo di comicità cinica o velatamente volgare tipica dei cartoni moderni senza però scimmiottare gli smielati tempi d'oro della Disney. Forse il film è pensato per essere apprezzato dalle nuove generazioni però strizza l'occhio anche a quelle di chi ha giocato ai tempi del Super Nintendo (Famicom). Un film forse non perfetto, veloce, con una storia semplice, che però ha tanti colori da presentare, e l'edizione Steelbook non può che essere il regalo migliore per dei bambini che abbiano un bello schermo gigante per rivederlo allo sfinimento come solo loro sanno fare.

Una corsa mozzafiato nel Regno dei Funghi Super Mario Bros. Il Film è un gioiello d’animazione che trasforma l’iconico mondo videoludico Nintendo in una straordinaria avventura sul grande schermo. La storia segue Mario e Luigi, due idraulici di Brooklyn legati non solo da un vincolo di sangue, ma anche da un’irresistibile complicità. Mentre Mario incarna il coraggio e la determinazione, Luigi rappresenta il lato più insicuro e goffo dell’eroe: una dinamica perfetta che rende i due fratelli immediatamente simpatici e umani. Dopo un inizio tutto urbano e terreno, il film decolla in un turbine di colori e immaginazione nel Regno dei Funghi, dove i fan riconosceranno ambientazioni, personaggi e dettagli curatissimi ispirati a oltre trent’anni di storia videoludica. Ogni scena è un omaggio affettuoso al franchise, ma anche un’occasione per sorprendere e divertire un pubblico nuovo. Tra risate, azione e momenti di pura meraviglia, i fratelli Mario affrontano sfide sempre più grandi, fino a confrontarsi con l’immancabile antagonista: Bowser, qui più minaccioso e carismatico che mai. Eppure, al di là degli scontri e delle corse sfrenate, il cuore del film è tutto nell’amicizia, nella famiglia e nel coraggio di superare le proprie paure. In sintesi: Super Mario Bros. Il Film riesce nell’impresa di accontentare fan di vecchia data e nuovi spettatori, regalando una festa visiva piena di energia, umorismo e passione. Un’esperienza cinematografica che diverte, emoziona e, soprattutto, fa venire voglia di giocare ancora.
