HONEST REVIEW: Twig vs Thorn vs Leaf
First impression and TLDR headline: Get the Thorn Razor Set (different listing here on Amazon) with the base, 55 blades and used blade tin for $20 or more. These razors actually live up to the hype and are fantastic for anyone looking for a mild to medium shave.Longer version: I have tested dozens of single and double edge razors, from the Gillette Fat Boy, Slim Adjustable and Merkur 34c (all outstanding) to the modern Supply (WAY overrated) and Parker Solo-Edge (cut myself every single shave). I also spent years in the disposable world, using everything from Gillette Mach 3 to Fusion 5, Harry's and the Dorco blades that are sold as Dollar Shave Club.None of them compare to the Leaf razors. None! After trying the Thorn, Twig and Leaf Leaf (so confusing), I find the Thorn to be a clear winner.LEAF: It's really not for face shaving because the head is going to be too big to fit under the nose of most people. Bummer, because the choice of using 1, 2, or 3 blades is pretty cool ... and actually works.TWIG: It really is a mild shaver, and perfect for anyone just beginning to dabble in the world of safety razors. I have a rather thick, fast-growing beard, and the Twig shaved casual close. Great for weekends when you want to look shaved but don't mind a little stubble after a few hours. For anyone from the Gillette adjustable world, this would be about a 1 or 2 setting.THORN: Best of all worlds. The extra .2mm or blade exposure from the Twig makes a big difference. The name Thorn suggests a level of sharpness that's a big exaggerated. You're basically jumping from a mild shave to a medium shave, which equates to about a 4 on a Gillette Fat Boy or Slim Adjustable. If you demand an extremely close shave and max out your adjustable razors and can only live with Feather blades, the Thorn, Twig and Leaf are not for you.PRO TIPS: Buy quality double-edge blades and break them in half (while still in the protective paper). They're cheaper and last forever. Also, if you end up flying with any safety razor, it must be placed in checked luggage or have no blade in your carryon. For anyone just starting out in the safety razor world, you might want to consider the Twig but will probably want to graduate to the Thorn. You MUST keep in mind that as mild as these razors are, they demand a different technique. You've probably read this before, but you need to let the razor do the work, applying virtually no pressure and letting the blade glide across your skin. Go strictly with the grain at first until you get the hang of it and after a few shaves, start working against the grain until you get the technique down.Ending on the tip that I started with: Get the Thorn Razor Set (or the Twig Razor Set, if you prefer). For just $20 more, you get a matching stand, 55 blades (the standalone razor comes with just 5) and a tin container to store your used blades for recycling.

Comfortable to hold, not too aggressive, can use DE blades!
I wish I could give this thing ten stars. I love it. I'm a long time DE shaver and just wanted something a bit lighter and easier to hold. I had been looking for some time and tried a few other single blades, but you have to buy special blades and they were super heavy.I found this on accident just searching around for a few days. At first I wasn't sure of it. I went ahead and ordered it and I LOVE IT. I do not want to have to buy special blades. I have a few DE blades I love and want to use those. You can just carefully snap the DE blades in half and you get TWO blades for the price of one for this razor. Such a better deal than plastic disposables, better for the environment, and friendlier to your face. Multiple blade razors just tear your skin up.With this razor you have such a great blade selection to choose from. Don't care? Buy from them. Ready to go. Want cheap? Buy DE blades and get two for one. Want something special that works for you? (All blades seem to shave differently.) Try a few DE sample packs here, fine the ones you love, and get them. It's the only razor I know of that lets you do that. Spectactular!I'm super happy with this razor and plan to use it for a long time... if it holds up.

Leaf Thorn, simply the best.
For many years, I've used a popular three blade disposable razor for my head. While I own over 20 D.E. razors and they give incredibly smooth, close facial shaves, they all preform pooly on my shaved head. I bought a Leaf three blade D.E. razor as a head shaver. Sadly, it was hostile on my head... However, it is incredible good on my face, and it became my number one facial shaver. In fact, I liked the Leaf so much I decided invest in the Leaf Thorn. Loaded with one of Leaf's single edge blades, I began to shave my skull with the Thorn. It took perhaps three swipes to get the angle right for shaving and I soon had a BBS smooth head with no nicks, no irritation and finished as quickly as any three blade disposable. Most impressive. The Leaf Thorn is as easy to use as any three or five blade expensive, land fill destined razor refill. The Thorn will pay for it's self very quickly considering the cheap cost of one half of a D.E. blade over a costly disposable multi blade refill. And the environment will see less plastic trash contaminating the planet. I found the Leaf Thorn delivers a fast, BBS smooth, safe shave and it has my highest reccomendation. Buy this thing.

Learning Curve
This razor surprised me with a very smooth shave. However, there is a learning curve. The razor is all metal, heavier and has a different feel than a multi-blade disposable plastic razor. At first I had several cuts. After several shaves I have had no cuts but it took some patience.Blades are easy to find in just about any grocery store. The double edged blades are inexpensive and break perfectly in half easily. I am liking this razor more every shave. And, it will save money over time.

A MUST BUY!
I would give more stars if I could! I’ve been using a store-brand 5-blade system (Harry’s) for years, which worked fine at first, but recently I’ve noticed the quality slipping. I also gave the Supply SE a try, but it left me with cuts after every shave. Then I tried the LEAF TWIG, and I’m absolutely blown away! The blade is incredibly sharp, with a low learning curve, and it’s super easy to maneuver, even around tricky areas like under your nose. If you're making the switch from a multi-blade razor and want a smooth, clean shave, you need to get this razor!
