Daughter wanted a train for Christmas from Santa. Santa delivered this just now and put it under the tree. Can’t wait for reaction! Train is a great size and fits around the last Christmas tree stand you will ever buy lol. As far as smoke stack, just got the Lionel winter smoke liquid and filled the little dropper that comes with it to the top and emptied fully into smoke stack by pulling the rubber stopper off first filling and replacing. Smoke came out on third go around. Great train set!!! Now make some Japanese hello kitty and panda trains my daughter can’t get enough of it on you tube lol

The train is extremely easy to set up and play with, even for a 3-year old. I saw lots of reviews saying the smoke doesn't work. You have to add far more water than the instructions suggest. Roughly 50-60% of the dropper bottle included with the train is how much you need to add. Once you get it working, it works great! You do need to refill the water for the smoke often.

So first, the positives. This model is very cool and a hit with the family. The remote and smoke are great features. Setup was easy and the remote works well.However, the instructions are a bit sparse. They indicate that you should remove the black plug, add water, and then it's unclear if the plug should be left out or if it should be replaced. It took us a while to actually get it to work (had to place the plug back in), but when it does work it's very impressive.Also, while I realize this is a budget model, I was a bit surprised just how cheaply made the model looks and feels, given the Lionel name. Each of the cars seems to be just a few single-color pieces snapped together with little detail. The couplers between cars are flimsy bits of plastic and don't even couple just by backing the cars together. You have to lift them a bit and couple them while also aligning the carriages of each car. Easy for an adult, but maybe not for a kid. The track also feels very flimsy, like it might break when putting it together.Again, it was a hit with the family and I do like the features. I just feel like I probably overpaid for the Lionel name and probably could have gotten a set of equal quality from some no-name Chinese company for about 1/3 of the price.

Had a train set as an older child. I bought this for my son being around 15 months come Christmas time! We keep our tree up for over a month. So this should be a treat. Put it together and ran it on the track to make sure it ran fine. Haven't done the smoke. Might not do the smoke this year. Lovely train.

Bought this in 2023 at Christmas and it worked fine well 2024 rolls around pull it out got it all set up new batteries ect will not roll hardly without dying out so I’m assuming the motor in it is bad already so if your ok with getting 1 holiday out of it go ahead or you may have a better experience then me but I’ll buy a cheap knock off before I buy a Lionel again always heard they were the best but yea not seeing it .

I ought this for my grandchildren to go around their tree. They love it.Ages 9,6,4 and 6 weeks.However, the steam doesn’t work.

The train is great and all. However, every single one of the straight train tracks were missing in the box! The box came factory sealed too! So I do not know why they were not in there! We were not able to set it up the way we wanted to in the end. It did come with every one of the curved tracks to make a circle around the bottom of the tree though. I just wish we could have it go all throughout the Christmas village like we planned. I must say though, it was if we were sent a cheaper set then the one we bought, because there were no slots given in the packaging for the straight tracks. So hopefully the company can remedy this when we contact them. I am a lil disappointed in Lionel for the mix up. Both my father and grandfather used to say that Lionel was the best brand for toy trains too. I hope we can fix this soon in time for Christmas.

I purchased this for my adult daughter for under her Christmas tree. The track can be made quite large, so we place it on a table with plywood to encompass the track. It works very well and stays on the track. The sound affects are great.
