I found this to be a comprehensive and insightful publication for those interested in the Sherman Tank. There is plenty of technical and manufacturing info and I thought the tables of variant type and engine/armour/gun options a great reference source. There are plenty of period and other photographs which I found really handy for a Sherman model project I was working on. It also adds a lot of details and background to all the Sherman photos I have taken around the world over the years. It is written in an easy to read style and is well structured. You might also want to look at the Sherman minutia website as well.

Another great Haynes manual for those interested in tanks, planes, ships, etc. Unless you're an expert on the Sherman already, you will definitely find some interesting info and pictures in this manual. I've knocked off a star as I dont think theres quite as much technical info as there is in the Haynes Tiger manual, which is surprising as there are dozens more Shermans in existence than Tigers! But still thoroughly recommended. I'm slowly building a collection of these manuals and I hope there will be more armour manuals in the future.

A useful book for anyone interested in the history, development, manufacture and different models of the Sherman. For various reasons I didn't find it as good as the excellent equivalent book about the Tiger tank. Many good photos and illustrations, but I felt a few important omissions as well - I would have liked to see a more detailed illustration of the standard (VVSS) suspension, and similarly a more detailed and labelled cutaway diagram of the whole tank.

The Haynes manual series continues to delight with this title. Any tank head is going to love the way the M4 is revealed here, both in text and photographs. Huge detail in both area's, much of which is unique to this book. Delight will be found in the mechanical exploration of this vehicle, with some surprises to the uninitiated. Great value and a great read.

This should read alongside the tiger tank volume , a great deal of info and great pictures about one the most influential tanks of ww2 simply because of the numbers produced and many and various versions, engines , and armaments well worth buying
