Great for stained glass use
This worked out great for my stained glass hobby. I used this in addition to my respirator mask and it really did help keep the fumes out of my face. It’s easy to use and very durable. Simple machine but it does the job. I liked that it also came with an extra filter!

Better Soldering Fan Than I Expected
First off, I think people need to be realistic with their expectations... No small table top fan is going to compete with a professional fume hood. Nor is a cheap 'activated carbon' filter going to remove all the hazardous fumes released by melting solder and rosin. BUT - if you simply need a solution for preventing the smoke and fumes from going right up your nostrils and into your eyes, this product is a decent option. This fan is slightly smaller than I anticipated at about 5" square and 3" deep. But that actually works towards it's advantage because it doesn't take up much space and is easily maneuvered close to your workspace. It draws smoke and fumes from within about 6"-8", which is sufficient for the task. I don't know why I haven't invested in something like this 30 years ago - it's so much more pleasant soldering without choking on the smoke. I position my work, bring the fan over, solder and move the fan back. Easy peasey. I highly doubt the filter is capturing all the smoke and fumes, but really I couldn't see it blowing out the back either and my bench area did smell a lot less. Seems like it's a bit more than just blowing the smoke around.Overall, I am pleased with this purchase. It's not too expensive and does the job.

Works well.
This is a good addition to my soldering area. It draws any smoke away from me. After showing its power, my students like having no smoke in their faces. The unit is quiet. I recommend it.

stained glass soldering
I’ve been using this unit for about a year for stained glass soldering. It works well to pull the flux smoke away from my face while soldering 60/40 at about 5-6”. Beyond that it won’t grab the smoke. It is lightweight enough if I’m working on a large panel, I can sit it on top of the glass with no damage. Within 6” there is no flux smell in the whole room,if you make stained glass you know that smell. So I have no scientific way of knowing if it’s working but the lack of smell is a good sign🤣The filter gets kind of yucky over time and I replace with another filter. I’m not really sure the manufacturers recommendation for filter life. Another review mentioned it’s lack of protection against lead which is not the purpose of this unit. You can get lead exposure in your blood from touching lead and it getting into your body through cuts, eyes or mouth. You cannot vaporize lead at the temperature we work at for stained glass. This unit is good for the flux chemical burning off. I also use a respirator along with this unit since I’m exposed to the flux smoke daily as a full time glass artist. 4 stars because it’s kind of loud, have to crank up my music to hear over it. Overall a good purchase and fair price.

Extracts as expected
Built well, extracts fumes as expected. It does run a bit loud but it performs well enough. Came with an extra filter.

Great Device
this unit is well made and functions great. I use it vent lead fumes when soldering stained glass. The magnetic arms are useful in glass soldering on the edges of the glass as well

Much Better Than Expected.
I didn’t expect much but I’m impressed. Provided I’m working within about 8 to 10 inches or so, it pulls all the smoke away from me. It moves air much better than expected and does a great job of eliminating odor. A member of my family is very sensitive to smell and irritants. They were able to stand in the room without issue.Thant being said, it’s not a HEPA filter. If you decide to stir a container of flux with a hot soldering iron you’re still probably going to choke out. Quick jobs might be fine but you’re still not going to be able to work for extended periods of time in a closed room without some sort of ventilation. It’s built solid and has a bit of weight, so it doesn’t knock over easily. The housing is painted metal and contains a very capable fan. I have no complaints about the build quality or efficiency. The fan isn’t loud but it’s not quiet either. You could still easily hold a conversation with it on. Headphones seem to mask the sound quite nicely but, to me, it isn’t obnoxiously loud when considering what it is.A filter comes preinstalled with one spare in the box. The carbon filter fits snugly but replacing it is easy. I found a five pack of replacement Kotto carbon filters for $12.99 on Amazon with Prime shipping.I’m going to build a HEPA fume extractor, but this will work until then. I’ll keep it around even after because it will still be a great tool if I need something portable. The five star review isn’t because it works like an industrial fume extractor. It’s because I think it’s a great value for the money and I haven’t been able to find anything that I would consider a flaw. Thanks for your time.LLAP

Quiet Fan with good pull
The media could not be loaded. Feels very solid, all metal construction. Works well to pull in all the smoke from a fair distance away. Filter seems to work well. Fan is very quiet. Would recommend for anyone doing solder work, especially guitar techs!
