Not the best
Like many people that have commented here, I have had Merrell shoes, sandals and boots for year. They are my 'go-to' buy.The soles are usually the 1st to go.However although I have had these shoes for just 2 years, I noticed that after one year the plastic around the toe area started to rip.I work all day in work boots, so they don't get used much, mainly weekends. I'm not impressed at these. They are my 2nd pair of continuum, the 1st lasting many years. Both pairs were made in Vietnam.I was recently in a charity shop and seen for sale a unused pair for sale, labelled, made in China. The plastic seems much stronger than the ones I purchased from amazon, the stitching inside seems to be more complete, compared to the amazon purchased shoe. Not impressed with the Amazon purchased shoes.

The shoe
Very comfortable and great when you don’t want heavier boots.

Great long lasting walking shoes.
I have just replaced my last pair of Merrell intercepts which were bought in 2017 and used as a daily shoe as well as a hiking shoe.I can highly recommend these shoes but you do need to buy a size larger than normal as they come up small (I'm size 11 U.K. and 12 fits perfectly).I only had to replace my old ones as the sole was finally wearing thin. The uppers were still in excellent condition and are very strong and well put together. While these aren't advertised as a waterproof shoe I can honestly say my feet have never been wet or cold in these and I have found them great for year round use including some very muddy walks and hot summer hikes. One of the most important things for a walking shoe is comfort and these won't dissapoint- after a couple of walks they seem to mould to your feet perfectly and for me they have been a joy to wear.

Too Narrow Now
These shoes used to be great and ive purchased many over the years but Merrel have reduced the width now making them too narrow. Even tried purchasing a larger size but the same too narrow now. Pic shows where the design has been changed just above the rubber M. Old and new shoe in picture.

Excellent
Bought these merrell exactly one year ago and still look good after a lot of wear and been in the washing machine a few times. Worth the money. Trying my best to break them so I can get a new pair. **Edited 2 and half years after purchase** And i have finally managed to damage them on some rocks and the black rubber at the front has torn but I will be ordering another pair when I can afford them

the leather has spread nicely making them definitely wide enough
First the size. I am a UK 9.5, or Euro 43.5 wide fit. Based on other reviews I bought the UK 10.5, Euro 45, and it was the right choice. They may be a fraction too long, but this enabled the wide part of the shoe to line up with the wide part of my foot. I was keen on the design and thought I'd order these despite not expecting them to be wide enough. But they're okay, and having had them for a year, the leather has spread nicely making them definitely wide enough. These are very comfortable and very tough. I often wear them all day, whether in town or going for a walk. They are fine on rugged terrain and way more than just a trainer. They look the part too. The perforated leather and understated colours go well together, and they age well. They're fine with shorts, jeans, outdoor trousers etc. The only part I don't like is the back, but it's a minor point.

Outside edge material split on 3 pairs!!
I’ve had 3 pairs of these and the 3rd pair was better than the first 2 but they have all have issues with the material on the outside front edge. The first 2 pair was really weak material and split very easily. I liked the look and comfort and though in my head surely merrell will improve things. My 3rd pair the toe area material was much tougher so they are clearly aware of issues in this area of them, this 3rd pair didn’t split on the middle of rhe material but was moreubcomfy to start with. When it softened a little I though these will be great but alas they are also not fit for purpose where the material need your outside toes meets the sole, the material has come unstuck leaving a gaping hole and there’s still plenty of grip left. These need a complete redesign in that area. The soles don’t last that long either in any of them so I’m trying other brands now. I liked the look and comfort but at how quick they are worn they are worth no more than £40
