Beautiful lava lamp, very calming along with the aurora borelis lamp. Mine is cloudy but I am going to look into clearing it. The bulb blew on the third use, no biggie I got a pack of twelve from Amazon for £5.99 and still on the second one over a month. My old lamp was the screw in bulb. Overall great value for money and a valuable assets in my mood lighting collection

Terrible! Would give zero stars if possible! Item didn’t work, returned for a replacement and that didn’t work. Lava became clumpy, fluid cloudy. Lasted less than 24 hours. Daughter was really disappointed. Wouldn’t recommend

Bought this for my sons room, lovely lamp, doesn't take long to heat up. It does get quite hot, so I wouldn't say it's suitable for a young child's room

Having had an original MATHMOS "Blob Lamp" in the seventies, I was after a newer version for a retro 70's project I am currently building. Having read some of the scathing reviews for this product I was a little reluctant to buy this Lava Lamp, however after un packing,scrutinising, and eventually switching on I was delighted. Switched at 01.00. pm and in 90 minutes first activity, and after 2 hours working perfectly, left working for 5 hours and switched off. Next day on at 08.00. am, switched on and working perfectly after 90 mins. I don't see how this product will deteriorate after a months, unless you run it continuously. My original MATHMOS lasted 6 years, but I only used it maybe a couple of times a week, and it was operated in a cold bedroom with no central heating ( This was in the 70's ) I am wondering if the malfunction is due to over use, and not understanding the simple laws of thermal dynamics this lamp works by. If it is operated in a comfortable warm room, it will take longer to warm up and become active as the internal liquids will already be at the same temperature, and to create a thermal differential could take a long time. It must be left alone to create this differential, and I am sure it will give years of pleasure. Once it is operating "Leave it alone" it will get very hot, and if left on all day it will "Boil" the colour out of the internal coloured liquid, only use it for a few hours a day, as it was meant to be used, and enjoy the wonder of Thermal Dynamics.

These are great value, look good but it's a complete lottery if you get one that is clear or cloudy. Mine was cloudy and the instructions show how to clear it, but like a lot of other reviews have called out, it doesn't seem to work. I've ordered a replacement
