Excellent product - German engineering comes to domestic chippers!
I ordered this chipper after returning a fully stainless steel one. It was about ten pounds (I got it for about 24 pounds) more expensive than the one it replaced but far better value for money. The design itself is excellent and it is very easy to use, There are two sizes of lattice - the one which isn't being used can be stored on the underside of the chipper. Mine did not come with any instructions, but because of the design the lattice can only be inserted one way and the plastic bit which pushes the chips through is straightforward enough in that it just twists an eighth turn and comes off. The only points to mention are that the chips it cuts will be very slightly curved and I did find the lack of instructions meant I spent a couple of minutes working out how to change between lattices but it was pretty logical. Mine has a dishwasher safe symbol on it so I presume it goes through the dishwashes ok, but I can't confirm this personally. In summary, it's well designed, reliable and straightforward to use - very very pleased with it.

Easy to operate.
I like the idea of applying the load in an arc rather than the horizontal load of other makes. Well made and easy to operate and at a reasonable price. Would recommend.

Bent chips.
First things first. Functionally there's no faulting it. Cutting chips is very easy and takes little effort. I've used it a few times and so far it's worked perfectly. I know some complain about it only handling small potatoes; well, it all depends on what you call "small" I suppose. It won't take real whoppers that's for sure, but it'll certainly take what I would characterise as medium size. Now for the gripes.................I feel a little embarrassed as I write this because the gripes seem trivial even to me, but I somehow find them disproportionately irksome. For one thing the chips come out bent. Yes, I said "bent", like a banana. (See pic). It's because the press, instead of moving on a flat surface, rotates into the cutter, and the chips so produced reflect that action. Does it matter at all? Common sense says "no", but common sense isn't always a factor. I just don't care for bent chips.Secondly, although it has two cutters, and one of them is described as for cutting "french fries", in point of fact even the smaller gauge cutter is larger than I'm used to for that purpose. If the results are french fries then they're very thick french fries, and bent to boot.(See the pic again. I put in a fork for scale.)So there you have it. If you're ok with thick, bent french fries then this may be for you. But I knocked a star off because of it.

Banana shaped chips!
German engineering at its finest. I noticed a couple of other reviewers marking this cutter down, one saying it only had 1 cutter, I thought this too, expecting it to be in the box, but seconds later, turning the product over I saw the other one was slotted in the base, (see picture) another saying the chips are bent. Yes, they are, but this is due to the curve on the machine. And I think technically, slightly curved chips can cook better, as less likely to stick together. You demand straight chips, you need to buy pretty much any other machine. If you want to present fries in a cup holder like save avant-garde bistro curved chips will have that aesthetic lean over, a flower like explosion, the fast food box effect can be done with other ones.Caution. I blame nobody but myself and my own carelessness... the blades are SHARP, cut fingers twice now. One trying to pull out a bit of spud, and again today just before taking the photo. My fault entirely, and cutting things are no good when they are blunt. These are sharp so is excellent for purpose. Takes bigger tatties than other machines.Tip. Although it went through Maris Pipers easily straight off, giving harder potatoes a bit of a boil first will also help those blades go through like butter.I used the 12mm blades, and if had to be picky, I would have probably preferred the 2nd blade to be 3mm wider than the 2mm 10 supplied (in the base) as we also like chunky chips sometimes.Definitely recommend though.
