Great mic for the price, recommended!
This mic has been excellent. I made plenty of comparisons between the on board mic of the Canon SLR compared to plugging this Boys in and the quality it picks up is superb! It is much more directional than the on board mic, which is what you want really when you point the camera at someone or something. Point to note, its a mono mic rather that the stereo which the Canon has on board but I don't miss that really. Wind noise is kept to a minimum with the included wind shield and its great to be able to use this with smart phones if I wish. You can also use this as a PC microphone when editing videos. The mount seems well made and from good quality plastic but it still pics up vibrations from say you holding the camera or the lens focusing, should you not use the STM lens of course. The tripod mount works very well via the thumb screw fixing.I like it. You can easily swap the mic around if you want to talk from behind the camera. Comes in a leatherette bag. The mic weighs more than you expect but that is down to the solid metal construction. It didn't come with the lens cleaner as stated in the pictures, but no biggie.

Great for price
Useful but you does have a little feedback buzzing, easily removed in post but if you don’t know what you are doing can be frustrating.

Not the greatest, but you get what you pay for
Entirely usable little mic and great value for money. Keep your expectations in line with the price and you won't be disappointed. I have used this in professional work and personal vlogs. If you understand good mic technique and use it properly, you'll get a 100% usable sound from it. I've used it hooked into both a dSLR and a phone for interviewing. Not sure what else to say, really. If you need a small, cheap microphone that does the job it's supposed to then this is a really great alternative to more expensive brands. It's the third Boya Mic I've owned and probably my favourite.

Better than the Rode in many ways
Excellent sound and most importantly form factor. I've always had the rode micro and bought this for my daughter. If anything this is better than the Rode. It's far sturdier on the mount but more important the dead cat is much smaller which makes a big difference. With the addition of the extra muff for the mic too it's excellent and also slightly louder than the rode. I've not ordered another purely to use on my GoPro as with it being slightly smaller it keeps it out of shot unlike the Rode.

good build and audio quality
this mic is fairly good quality, both in build quality and in audio quality. when plugged into my iphone the recording are nice and clear but when used with my canon dslr the noisefloor is too much as the internal preamps have too much noise. this is one of the downsides of using internal preamps, which is your only option with this unpowered microphone. i intend to use an external recorder with it in the coming months for cleaner audio, but the product itself is good, good value, good quality wind muff and mic holder, didnt have any issues with the hotshoe mount, like others have mentioned. hope this review helps some people. the frequency response is also nice , and a 4k boost in post along with a hipass at 60hz does wonders for vocals

Excellent quality, budget mic.
Great bit of kit, used on an action cam/360 cam. Comes with the very useful windsock, and alternate (short) connecting leads for either smart phone or camera usage.

Good.
It took me about 30 minutes testing between the mic and using only my iPhone's' mic, it came with two cables to connect the mic and the phone, one of them didn't work hence why I couldn't tell the difference at first. It is very good overall.

Great value dslr mic
Great mic especially if you can know how to do some minor changes with editing audio. Came with everything I needed for phone and dslr. Cradle is ok and does the job well especially for the price.
