Lightweight, comfortable, easy to clean
First thing, I cut out the battery pack. It was heavy and awkward.I purchased this for my 9 year old, and it fits her small head and my husband's oversized noggin. Chances are, it will fit yours, too.It's made of that foam-type paper that you can buy at the craft stores, along with some kind of mesh fabric and leds around the eyes and mouth. It's pretty easy to clean. My daughter has given us all sorts of opportunity to clean this darn white mask. :)It comes flat, presumably to keep the shape. You're going to have to do a little assembly, taping the mask together using the provided double-sided tape. There are no instructions, but it's easy enough to figure out.Yes, you could make this yourself. Especially if you don't care about the LED lights. For the price, I preferred to buy it. I'm happy with my purchase, and if it breaks I would likely buy another one vs. making it myself.

Pros and cons
This product is a great idea! Buy it a week in advance for prep. Pros: Easy to assemble. Looks perfect as advertised. Lasts longer than the other materials that come with the suits. Cons: Cannot see through the mask in dark areas (can’t see the lights till in dark spaces). Strong chemical odor, must air it out before using (if that bothers you). The front ends up being flat against the nose (better size for kids), therefore shaping is a must during the week before use. The battery case is heavy and does not stick with the small tape provided (figure out your own glue or tape that works or the wire will break off from the weight.

My eight year old loves it!
This was on my 8 year old sons Santa list, and I got it not expecting much, but it’s pretty neat. It’s built as expected, but the wires are pretty well tucked away. He absolutely loves it.
