No. Not rechargeable but takes batteries.

We are not tech savy, have had other walkie talkie and could not set the up. Is this easy to set up?

I found them super easy to set up, I don’t think I even looked at the directions. Could you state what problems you were having. Perhaps they were defective.

Do these work indoors?

Yes they work very well indoors. We live in a split level home. I have my living area in the basement and the kids and I talk to each other when they are on the 3rd floor in their rooms. Good clarity.

Is this good for working on a construction site with multiple levels?

I used them at a school for an activity. They had good range through brick walls.
