Surface Pro - too big / cpu magnet
This is good cooler for most laptops; however, my Surface Pro 7+ has a built in cpu fan. The cooling area is the top right of the screen. Unfortunately, most cases cover this error not allowing the cooler to do it's job. When I mounted behind the kick stand ( my case does not cover this area ), it got very hot up to 85c. The hottest without any 3rd party cooling device would be at 48c. Upon removing the magnet for the cooler, my temperatures went down to 35-40c. Perhaps the magnet affects the fan built in the Surface Pro 7 + cpu cooler? Tried the cooler on another device without cpu fan (i5 passive cooling) and the temperatures went down. So, I give it 5 starts with the exception of the issues using my Surface Pro with built in cpu fan. NOTE: when mounting behind kickstand the cooler is too big for kick stand to work. If your not using a case, then the cpu area will not be covered - again, don't like the idea my SP+ got so hot until removed the cooler.

Definitely works, works better on phone-size devices
I use this for my Surface Pro, and have found it to be good for dropping the temperature of the backside of the tablet 10-15 degrees F near the junction. I’d suggest mounting it closest to the battery to protect it from wear, or closer to the GPU for performance (the device comes with multiple plates you can mount in different places)Using a 40W USB-C PD supply, the plate gets cold enough to condense a good puddle of water, so be cautious of leaving it on and attached to your device if the computer is off. Apparently it can even frost up with a higher power supply. All in all a good bargain to improve the performance and reduce a little battery wear, though it does consume a good deal of power to do it.

Still evaluating fully
I'm giving 4 stars right now because the fan does appear to provide some cooling to the iPad - but I have yet to test it in the field. I take videos of water polo games, and often the deck of the pool is extremely hot due to the reflection of the heat/radiation off of the white concrete. This results in the iPad overheating even in the shade (I use an umbrella if there isn't shade at the facility). One concern I have is that the instructions indicate to apply the 'protective film' to the back of the iPad first, which apparently is supposed to be a small sheet of plastic with adhesive on one side. In my case, there were two sheets of plastic - but no adhesive. This was confirmed by several other people looking at it and verifying that there was no 'backing' to peel off - it was just a punched out circle of plastic. Therefore, I had to apply the circular iron sheet directly to the back of the iPad. It does stick well, and the magnet on the fan seems to be sufficiently strong to keep it in place while the iPad sits stationary on a tripod.I will be testing it this week on a pool deck (Southern California - ambient temp will be over 100 degrees, not taking into account the radiant energy from the pool deck. I will update after I run this test.

Where is the cooler?? Not here..
Only remotely good thing about this thing is that it does stick to the back of the phone. Does not keep your phone from getting overheated at all!! I work in the AZ heat in a FedEx truck and it’s hot! But this definitely doesn’t keep my phone from getting hot. Just not working very good at all.
