Lazy Hill Farm Designs 41401 Bird House White Solid Cellular Vinyl with Natural Redwood Shingle Roof, 16-Inch Wide by 28-Inch Tall

This is a wonderful dovecote type birdhouse. Ours arrived with a couple of the perches unattached from the birdhouse, but they easily "snapped" back onto the birdhouse. I would recommend putting a dab of glue on it first before re-attaching any loose pieces. The birdhouse comes with a flat, metal mounting plate which measures about 5x5. You first screw the plate onto the top of your mounting post, then from the protruding edges of the plate, screw the birdhouse from the bottom of the plate to the bottom of the birdhouse. The birdhouse does not come with the decorative post mounted corbels as shown in the pictures.To make the birdhouse last longer, we're going to stain the roof with an oil-based stain then apply a clear coat. The proportions are perfect for a side garden we have; it's installed in a round flower bed with a diameter of about 8-feet and the birdhouse is mounted on a 4x4 post at about 6-feet high. We're very pleased with this Lazy Hill Farm birdhouse and it's added a beautiful focal point for our side garden.

I was worried about the shipping, and it did arrive with 2 of the shingles broken - but it sounded like other people had this issue so instead of sending back and getting an even more damaged one (potentially) I just glued the shingles on as they had clean breaks and installed. Looks really great. Would have given 5 stars if not for the damage in shipping

I received this beautiful birdhouse and I am excited about putting it up. However, the central shaft that holds the individual interior birdhouses in place was bent, and the metal plate that fixes the bottom of the house to a post was missing, as were the screws (both plate and screws were supposed to be included.) I managed to sort of straighten out the central pole (that goes through the roof and hooks into the finial) and I guess I will go to my local hardware store to see if they can craft a metal plate for me so I can actually get this thing mounted. The packaging could have been significantly better; I'm surprised more components weren't broken. I should have bought this whole kit (including the related Azek pole) through someone else.

I have purchased Lazy Hill Bird houses in the past and they have always been top quality. This time it arrived on time but was very disappointed to find a section of the roof missing and one of the perches completely broken off. I had torn the box in the opening of it making it problematic sending it back...so I bit the bullet and decided to live with it rather than try and find a box big enough to return it. I took photo of the damage and have copies of them. I tried gluing the perch back together but it looks pretty bad and I filled the missing roof piece with glue so that it won't leak into the birdhouse. Needless to say, this was a very disappointing experience from a company that has always had a quality product in past orders.

Beautiful birdhouse!! Or should I say bird home! I used indoor/outdoor urethane to protect the the redwood shingles from sunlight and rain and moisture and temperature changes over time.. And it's just amazing more so now..This home is worth the money.. It's made of that cellular pvc.. And will go the distance and pretty much last forever..Thanks Lazy Hill Farm!

I purchased this birdhouse several years ago. It looked great but now the sides and the pedistals are rotting out. I wouldn't buy another one.

We bought this as a replacement for a 20+ year old Lazy Hill Farm birdhouse and were not disappointed. The birdhouse was well packaged, arriving undamaged and with all the necessary hardware for mounting. As the description says, the roof is redwood and the body is made of PVC. Vinyl weathers very well and lasts a long time - think vinyl siding - and I think it will continue looking good longer than our previous wood birdhouse.

the bird house is lovely as described...4 stars based on these issues: missing screws....2 were taped to the box and obviously fell during shipping and escaped in the cracks of the untapped seams. No metal plate was included. Luckily we had not throw out the metal plate from our 10 year old Lazy Hill birdhouse. No holes were drilled in the bottom of the new birdhouse. We have 3 LHBirdhouses in our backyard, all are beautiful, but the attention to detail in the shipping process for this order was disappointing.
