CERA-PET VET Blood Glucose Meter for Cats & Dogs

This is perfect it only takes a small amount of blood to check my dog’s blood sugar and it’s fast.

I am a retired Certified Diabetes Educator and MSN, RN who has instructed well over 1000 people in diabetes self management in my career. As fate would have it, not only was my grandson diagnosed last year at the age of 1 with Type I Diabetes, but so was my Jack Russell. So as you can imagine, I am very familiar/educated in glucose meters. I ordered this as I have some issue with the Alpha Trak 2 meter and I was immediately impressed with it. The Cera Pet is easy to code. The strips are designed with a holding guide so that your fingers do not contaminate them when inserting in the meter. It grabbed the blood sampling much quicker than the Alpha Trak which we were wasting about two out of every one sampling with the "Error Code" flashing, not to mention the unnecessary discomfort to our dog. The Cera Pet strips have a great visual as you see the sample filling the strip window and registered the results on the first attempt. The strips are half the price as an Alpha. The only downside is the meter and strips are from Germany and so you have to be sure to allow time for delivery. The Cera Pet is hands down a superior product in both use and cost. This product has impressed this old nurse. Thank you.

I love this monitor, it works so much better than the other ones I have tried, including the alpha track 2, every other strip on that one is error. The strips are reasonably priced and much easier to use with their little "handle". It took a little bit longer to receive in the US, so order strips earlier then you normally would. My tip: I never bother using the little "lancet pen" it is so much easier just to take the little lancet needle and do a quick little poke. My dog even just slept through his last test, But if he sees me getting ready and coming at him with the pen he hides, mostly because we had to do it over and over with the alpha track 2. He would hear the pin click and try to jump up. He quickly associated the click sound with the poking feeling. Also... it doesn't take a lot of blood, but do make sure you get enough for an accurate reading.

I was scared when I bought this meter not knowing if it really was going to work. My vet told me not to buy one because they aren't accurate. Well let me tell you this meter has helped me get my dogs blood sugar under control. I tested it on my other dog that doesn't have diabetes and hers was perfect... I'm not looking for it to be 100% but it does give me an idea where his blood sugars are. Best purchase ever and I wish I would have bought it sooner. The price is perfect and the other reviews are what sold me.... plus the strips aren't as expensive as the other meters are.

My baby cat Peachie has developed diabetes in her later years, this device helps me monitor her insulin level. This monitor was very good with it's directions and had all supplies needed; especially the clear cap on the lancet so you can see that you have punctured the skin. It is very stressful when a pet is sick and they can't tell you how they are feeling. This device helps Peach and I feel more comfortable and competent in this challenging situation.Thank you for making this an easy choice with the helpful description, easy of ordering and quick arrival of product.
