I've been using this product for ages, and doubt I'll find a better attractant out there to completely eliminate ants in a few days. The best part is it's very safe around children and pets. For indoors I recommend getting the bottle, and instead of using the little pieces of coated exterior packaging to put a drop or 3 on, use a water bottle or juice cap or piece of foil that won't absorb product after a few days. For outside I recommend the little plastic trays that are weatherproof. This is super efficient stuff, a few drops will solve most invasions in a week or less. One thing I found out recently, it does seem to have a shelf life. I had my typical springtime infestation, and started treatment. A month and a half passed, and it seemed all I was doing was feeding them. Now, the active ingredient is Borax, and that doesn't go bad. The product seemed to be fine, it stayed liquid like so the consistency wasn't a red flag. Since this was the first time in decades I had an issue, I bought a new bottle. In 3 days they were gone. So, it seems even if stored in a cool dark place, replacement after 2 years might be recommended if you don't get results within 2 weeks. I had 2 points of entry and they're gone! Pros: - Inexpensive - Easy to use - Odorless - Safe - Effective Cons - Sticky if spilled - Does seem to have shelf life (2 years?) Bottom line, throw away sprays and stakes. This product attracts sweet and grease eating ants like crazy. So when winter or spring rolls around and you get those tiny black ants randomly wandering around in your kitchen or bath, just put a couple of drops near the point of entry (or wherever you might see an outside trail) and kiss them goodbye in a few days. 5 star product if there ever was one!

This is easily the most effective and inexpensive way to deal with ants. Here in Florida, we have tiny little ants. They're so small, I'd need a magnifying glass to count their legs. You could fit one of these ants on the head of a pin... and still have room to spare. But, they stream in from everywhere. And they bite, but by the time you realize you're itchy, they're gone. And, because they're so tiny, you never even felt them on your foot or arm or whatever. I tried mixing water, borax, and a sweetener (sugar, honey, corn syrup, or maple syrup) and making my own traps. It worked okay, but not good enough. Not even close. Then, we tried Terro products sold in pre-loaded, clear plastic traps. It worked pretty well, but varied with where we put the traps. But, when it worked... wow! The ants were gone within 24 hours. In some areas of our kitchen, they never came back. In other places, it's been a continuous battle, and those Terro traps aren't inexpensive. Plus that, they dry out and you need to replace them. The answer is Terro liquid. This product is inexpensive, easy to dispense, and it works really, REALLY well. We see results in about 12 hours. Basically, they swarm all over the liquid, take it back to the nest and share it, and all the ants that ate it, die. The kit comes with a few small, cardboard pieces with bulls-eye shapes. You'll put a few drops of the Terro liquid on each of them, and set them out. That may be all you need. Here in Florida, where the ant nests must be massive (or lots of them), I'm using a sheet of white card stock - the kind they put inside folded shirts at upscale stores. (My husband brought home a couple of sheets from his workplace, because they use card stock there.) But, you could use any of the card stock inserts in magazines or junk mail. I cut them into small squares - under one-inch - and put a few drops of Terro liquid on each. I set out about two or three per area where we've seen ants. From my experience, the results are one extreme or the other: In some locations, the ants are gone, overnight. In others, the ants are gone, and then the next wave show up, a day or two later. Each successive wave is smaller in number. But, every 12 - 24 hours, I need to refresh these homemade traps with fresh dots of Terro liquid. Otherwise, it dries and forms something like a clear, shiny solid. The ants seem to go up to it, but they don't flock to it. That's why Terro liquid is the best deal, instead of the Terro pre-made traps. The latter dry out and you have to buy more. But, with Terro liquid, you have enough to make your own, fresh traps for at least 30 days, and possibly longer. I've tried every borax + sweetener recipe I've found, online, and NOthing comes close to the effectiveness of Terro liquid. Of course, this product is poisonous, and it probably tastes sweet, so it should never be used where children or pets might ingest it. But, if you have ants, this is easily the very best way to get rid of them. And that includes those nasty, tiny ants we have in Florida, as well as larger, garden-variety ants.

Eradicates these pesky PNW ants within a few days. Would go crazy without these traps. The ant population does get worse at initial placement, just a fair warning. But it does get rid of them. Patience is necessary.

This product does seem to kill ants. I purchased it to help fight an ant problem I was experiencing in my kitchen. Once I placed the product onto the counter the ants, in less than an hour, were swarming all over it. Some people find this unsettling but I know that just means it is working. Plus I don't find ants to be disgusting but rather just annoying. Anyway after a day or so they ants were greatly reduced. However in a few days they came back again in big numbers and were reduced again. This has been the cycle. I believe this is because I am experiencing Argentine ants and what is happening is this product is killing off one colony and then another colony moves into the vacant space. The key seems to keep applying fresh product and look around your house for signs of other ant activity. Once located apply this product to those areas too. Also don't forget to walk around the outside of your home, on a dry day, to identify any areas where ants are entering your house. This includes checking behind all bushes and trees that up against your exterior walls. Finally don't forget ants, and other bugs, will use shrubs and trees as roadways to your house. Therefore you should make sure that all plants are four to six inches a way from your home's siding. UPDATE: 19 May 2014 As stated this product is very effective indoors. In my case I was fighting little blank ants which could be Argentine's. I am not 100% sure either way. This product would reduce their numbers greatly. I would find thousands of them dead all over the basement floor. The first time I found them I thought how did dirt get all over the place. However when I investigated I noticed the "dirt" turned out to be ant bodies. This product wasn't enough by itself to totally solve the issue. True the number of ants would be greatly reduced but in a week or so here they would come again. Then they would die off. Then come back. This yoyoing went on for a few months and I was getting tired of sweeping up dead ant bodies. I knew I needed a new tactic. I had noticed these guys outside on the brick siding. Unfortunately they are immune to the professional grade spray unlike other ants. Yes I had placed this liquid bait near their outdoor activity but that didn't seem to be enough. So I started doing a lot of research on how to address this situation and I found the solution. I continued to use this product indoors and ADDED TERRO 901 Ant Killer 3lb Shaker Bag .:. Amazon ID: B001B1KGCO The shaker bag is very easy to use and requires no additional tools to spread. You do need to wet the product after application so put it out when it is about to rain or use another method. I used my bug sprayer to accomplish that task. Once this product was applied around the perimeter of the house it started killing the outdoor ants, while the Terro liquid bait killed them inside. After about a week no more ants. It has now been months and months since I have seen an ant indoors. So if you are experiencing ant issues you can try this liquid bait. If it doesn't quite seem to do the job I highly suggest the shaker bag. The shaker bag also targets other insects like roaches, so it is a good product to put out. In my yard I have noticed an increasing number of ants away from the house which means they could eventually reinfest the home. So one does need to monitor the situation and keep a good active chemical barrier on the ground and walls. I am going to target other areas away from my home as I want to be proactive. Of course you must decide what's right for you but I would rather fight them in the yard than in the house.

How you use this stuff is important. My abbreviated guidance: 1) More small puddles are better than one giant puddle of TERRO stuff 2) Don't kill, wipe up, or disturb the ants. Use their process to help your process. Find their trails. 3) Trust that this stuff works. 4) You want a good trap at SOURCE, plus a trap or two along their trail you can watch 5) If after you've given it a whirl, but you keep seeing ants, you didn't do your homework correctly. : ) 6) FIND the SOURCE and place your best trap there. 7) Use the stuff WISELY, not WILDLY!! About 30-40 drops of the stuff will kill HUNDREDS of ants!! Now... for a bit more verbose how-to: ================================= Instructions on the package and in the product description here say to place drop puddles of the stuff for ants to come and FEED off... I agree with that.. But rather than making ONE GIANT puddle (the size of a coin, for instance, ~20-25mm 3/4" to 1"), I have found that it's much more effective to make MULTIPLE SMALL puddles (the size of a hole punch... 5-7mm or ~1/4 in" MAX) with that same distance between puddles... So instead of one big puddle, I'd fit in about 4 to 6 smaller ones in the same space... using less liquid but attracting more ants! When there's one giant puddle, you can only feed as many ants as can fit around its circumference; but with lots of little puddles, you can feed a whole lot more, because they arrange themselves around the circumference of every smaller puddle, and they eat a lot more efficiently. So... it takes less time for the TERRO to do its thing and get the stuff carried back to their nest. My recommendation is NOT to go wild stomping on or swooping in to wipe up ants when you find them... LEAVE THEM IN PLACE and find their trails. This stuff is effective, so they'll get "got", but if you interrupt their flow, you may never really know if you're placing your traps in reasonable places. So when you see ants, get a powerful flashlight and trace the ant trails back to a WALL or WINDOW or a HEAT VENT or a HOLE in the FLOOR... or wherever they gained entry. Ants are very intelligent and ingenious creatures. There is a logical order to how they got from your window to your desk or bed or table or whatever... but it might take some detective work on your part to find that trail. They often won't choose the straight line because they don't want to get steppped on and smashed. They know better. So they'll go around the edge, or maybe crawl up a table leg, even across the bottom of the table, then back down again at the other side if that's their best perceived route. Until you find the full trail, from ENTRY SOURCE to the final CRUMB COLLECTION they're nibbling on, you won't be able to trap them so well along the way. Be patient and mimic their process. I've even gone so far as to take a couple extra days to even start "killing them" because I can't find how they're getting from one place to another. So I might lay white paper down on top of carpet or dark-tile floor to let them use it as a "freeway" and speed their transit so I can better find and see their trail! Then, once I have a better idea how they got from one place to another seeming illogical place I found them... I set about to trapping them and poisoning this little freeway trail I just laid for them. We also don't use the little cardboard squares; we use post-it notes with the non-stick edge folder up as a little handle to lift it back up after all is finished. Just be careful not to place puddles too near the edges (of cardboard or post-it notes). Else, you may have some difficulty cleaning up the sticky stuff left over when the ants finish up. Then plan to place your traps at each end, and a couple test places along the trail, so you get them all. Concentrate the best collection of puddles of the stuff as near as possible to the ENTRY point. Sometimes that may take a few days to get right. But once you think you've found their ENTRY point, and have placed the puddle trap... keep an eye on it every day, and drip a few more drops on if they eat it all up. This stuff WORKs, and it WORKS WELL and fairly QUICKLY. (I've never had it take the two weeks it says to wait... Usually the way we do it, leaving three or four post-its by the discovered point of entry and several feet apart along their favorite trail... it's all over within 3-4 days or so, max) I really kind of hate to have to poison these super intelligent creatures. But I also don't like them taking over my living space, if one of us does something stupid like drop crumbs or sticky sweets somewhere, and the ants show up and illuminate our folly. So, I have to resort to TERRO to take back my space, and then educate the offending crumb-dropper to try and ensure it doesn't happen again. Still, tho, I'm always fascinated by their persistence and drive to survive! : )

I now have a years supply to take care of any that come inside and the ones outside. This stuff os messy but it works fast. Ive been using plastic lids to keep the stickiness to a minimum. Its so easy to use, just place dots of it down and they eat it up and take it back to the queen.

I had an ant problem and within 2 days of using this product around the house they were all gone. It's been now a couple of weeks and still no ants. Easy to use and very effective. Ants came right up to the products and fed on it. It is a sticky liquid but to clean it up water and soap does the trick. I poured way too much at first but it if you just keep the liquid within the little pieces of cardboard it comes with, cleaning up is even easier. I even used this outdoors on terrace and entry way. A little goes a long way and effective.

I'm honestly unsure how to rate this product. We had an ant problem a while back and at first we tried those ant traps where the ants are supposed to go inside, eat bait and take it back to the nest. Unfortunately we rarely saw any ants actually enter the trap... so we knew we needed to try something else. We placed a drop of this on the little cardboard tab and it was like an all you can eat buffet! The ants literally had a party, slurping up this liquid to the point of practically being drunk on it. Several ants drank so much they ended up getting stuck and drowning in the liquid itself. Okay, so at least the ants are taking the bait, right? WELL... I mean... it didn't really seem to get rid of the ants. In fact... we ended up with HUNDREDS more. Just absolutely swarming the liquid in a gross mass of insatiable feelers and pincers. We fed our little friends daily... topping off the liquid whenever it started to dry out. Waiting patiently for the day they stopped showing up to collect their poison treat. Except... the day never came. We fed them for WEEKS, and they just kept showing up and drinking. We eventually ran out of the little cardboard tabs to put the poison on... and... well I'm not sure what genius did this, but two of the tabs literally have a hole punched in them to hang the boxes on display racks... so those weren't even useful. I mean it was just cardboard but still. Anyway, so after weeks of ant parties, we figured enough was enough, and we cut the little buggers off from the source. Oddly enough, the ant problem pretty much resolved itself once we took away this infinite source of food. A couple of days later... no more ants. Was it just a super delayed result of the poison? Was it that we stopped feeding them? Was it because they were all too fat to make it back to their nest? Who knows. All I know is this product really works at attracting ants. So I guess if you have ants all over your house, the very least this thing does is concentrate them all to one spot. I'd suggest putting this OUTSIDE of your house somewhere the ants can freely feast on it. (but where small animals can't eat it) Because they could be feasting there for WEEKS and I'm not sure anyone wants to host a month long ant bender.

Eu tinha uma quantidade absurda de uma formiguinha que chamam de formiga quente, que pica que é uma chaticie só. Não podia fazer nada no quintal que terminava sempre picada por todos lados. Não sei se é por acaso (quero acreditar que não!) mas, desde que comecei pôr umas gotinhas, de tanto em tanto, em algumas áreas estratégicas, a quantidade de formigas diminuiu muito! Tenho posto, por exemplo, numa folha seca, num canto que não pegsaae chuva.

This product is a real life saver!!! I used spray/powder ecc ecc and none of it has ever worked, now I applied this and in FEW HOURS I couldn’t see ants anymore!! Cheap and crazy effective! I would give 10 stars, not 5

I moved into a new home only to find that as soon as I started using the kitchen I was inundated with ants. I used this product once, leaving small amounts on top of my kitchen counter and allowed the ants to congregate and eat the product (this was hard as I just wanted to spray them). The next morning I cleaned up the sticky half-dried fluid and I have not seen another ant since. Good stuff
