This worked really, really well for me. I was able, with some silicone tape that I picked up at Walmart, to fasten an old garden hose to the end of it and lead it around the house and down the driveway. Considering we got three more inches of rain that night, and the barrel was already full, it meant HUNDREDS of gallons of water that did not go under my house, but around it. Having the exact circle saw drill bit meant I didn't have to go looking in my husband's and guess which one was right, and the gasket that came with it fit exactly in the hole. Super easy to do, to use, and a reasonable price to pay to get everything I needed except a little silicone tape and an old hose. Very pleased.

The reason I only gave it 4 stars is because it comes with only one hose seal. If you are planning to hook it up to your downspout, that’s a problem as you will need to get an extra hose seal from somewhere else. The included hole saw is a nice touch and worked well for drilling both the barrel and the downspout. The hose is not the most sturdy and not very long but I only needed a short one. I think it’s fair value fir the price.

I am not a handy person but I found it extremely easy to install. It works just as it is supposed to, an there is no leaking at all. It was a bit pricey but if it saves the basement from flooding then I guess I'd have to say it's worth it.

gasket is a tight fit, no leaks even when the barrel is overflowing. use a bit of soap on the hose when you first insert into the gasket to make it easier.

I was disappointed with this, much because I guess I didn’t read carefully. 1 1/2” is still not very big. I’m skeptical that it is going to handle overflow. The only time that happens to me is during a heavy rain. I’m sure the barrel will still overflow. I upped it to 4 stars, giving it the benefit of doubt that it will handle the flow. The hose does stretch out. I didn’t measure it but I’d believe 5’. Again, I didn’t go measure the barrel that is mounted (as many are) about a foot above ground level. After reaching ground level, I only have about 18” to direct the water. My bad again but given what it’s designed for, why didn’t they just add another couple of feet. The cost of an extra couple of feet of thin hose has to be trivial. Re the price, it’s way too high. The most substantial and costly item is the hole saw. There’s a Ryobi at Home Depot for $11. That leaves a thin 5’ hose and a rubber bushing, hardly a $13 value. Hopefully if you need two there is a kit without the hole saw but at the time I ordered I didn’t see one. I put it in and we’ll see but even if it works as advertised, it’s way overpriced in my view. Installation was very easy. Drill the hole, stick in the rubber bushing, and stick the hose into the bushing.

Very easy to use and works good

I bought this as an overflow pipe on a second rain barrel after buying the linking kit by the same manufacturer. It's really easy to fit, will work on any size, curved sided barrel, and certainly does the job. I would have liked a longer hose, though, even though it's clearly advertised as a 5' hose, so I did know what I was buying. Like the linking kit, it's quite expensive, but it really does work and is a breeze to set up.
