The Brain: All about Our Nervous System and More! – An Informative Picture Book About How It Works for Kids (Ages 6-10) (Smithsonian-science)

These are very informational and perfect for kids. My 9 year old absolutely loves them! Some of the medical books (heart, bones, brain) are a bit out of reach for my 4 year old and 6 year old, but they still listen and love looking at the pictures. Great, great, great books!

Its a kids book, but not a fairy tale. I think that with this Smithsonian series there will be technical terms a child, and even unfamiliar adults, will be stopped by. At the same time, with repeated exposure to such terms, I feel the child can get it. My daughter has this set and when I bought it we understood there would be a new learning curve for her, this is exactly why we bought it. Introducing topics in neuroscience will challenge most readers without a background within, especially a child developing litaracy skills - but I think its worth the effort. To support this goal I felt the images were excellent and make revisiting the pages easy. If you are keen on fostering a sense of curiosity and a scientific mind within a child, the decision is a no-brainer, buy them. And for keen adults - fun to look at as we attempt to help our children grow.

The booklet is designed for teens, but is enjoyable and educational for adults too. The information is accurate and is beautifully illustrated. I am looking forward to purchasing other Smithsonian booklets on the human body.

My almost 7 year old grandson loved this book and spent hours pouring over the pictures. The words were a little advanced by he reads on about a 4th grade level so he did well with them.

The Brain is a well-written and beautifully illustrated book for upper elementary students. It was a resource for our study of the brain and nervous system.

This book surpassed all of my concerns. It is excellent for the class I am going to teach this fall.
