Amazing quality leather and workmanship. Too tight? Hints are below.
This is a gorgeous, well crafted piece of leather workmanship, made in the U.S.A. I have been using a plastic magazine holder for my Kimber .45 ACP, it works but likes to wiggle on my belt a lot. This 1791 single stack magazine holster with double loops belts nice and tight against my side, just how I wanted it. My friend has been using the same plastic mag holster as I. I sent him a photo of this as soon as I got it, and he's looking at them online right now! As others have stated, the fit can be Golly Miss Molly TIGHT! But follow the instructions, be patient, and work with it. My only regret is that my handgun holster material preference is Cordora and not leather, because I would love to have a matching leather handgun holster if I did. UPDATE: To get mine to accept a magazine, I had to soak mine in water, as some others have. I soaked mine for a couple hours in hot water. Then I was able to insert an empty mag by pushing slowly but firmly until it was seated. After that I set in front of the woodstove to dry. (Air drying will work also, please DO NOT put it in your oven!!). After it was dry, the magazine seemed a little loose in the holster, but when it's belted to my side, the retention is perfect! After that, I rubbed it down with some BICK 4 leather conditioner. This all may seem like a lot of work but it's no different than waiting for a good pair of work boots to break in. It's worth the time. If you need to do this, you will see some color from the tanning process in your water. My water was completely brown, but it didn't change the color at all. So if you experience this, don't freak out, it will be fine.

GOOD CONSTRUCTION, QUALITY LEATHER, AT A FAIR PRICE, WITH JUST ONE CAVEAT
I have given 1791 Gun Leather some pretty scathing reviews in regards to numerous purchases I made recently of their leather goods. I continue to stand by those reviews. However, my complaints are singular to a particular leather dye/color process, and nothing else. In total fairness, I'll tell those who read this, that the quality of the leather used in the construction of of 1791's leather products are second-to-none. It is a full-grained leather, robust, and as thick as you could want any gun leather to be for the designed purpose. I am very impressed with the workmanship that went into each piece that I own. I speak of this with many, many years of experience, both professional and private, with gun leather usage. Polished edges, double-stitched, attention to detail with both cant and firearm retention, and solid comfort, are but a few of the "buzz words" that fully applies to the 1791 holster. Additionally, they are fine looking holsters that displays the craftsmanship and quality that I speak of. The magazine pouch is of the same qualities. In spite of my issue with color-fastness for my favorite color (signature brown) that 1791 offers, it begs the question: would I purchase from 1791 Gun Leather again? My answer is: YES, I already have!

Very well made product
Well made mage holder but also bought a holster that did not work for me so sent both back to 1791 with no issue. Will buy 1791 products in future once we figure out firearm issues.

Great Quality
For the price I was amazed at the excellent quality of the leather and stitching. Magazine fit perfect and tight fit. Highly recommend this one!

Great product but it could be improved for comfort.
Great product. Durability and craftsmanship are outstanding! However, the design could be improved by adding and additional leather flap to the top of the holster to protect the user from the mag rubbing into the users skin, similar to many of 1791's holsters that protect you from hammer or rear sights, safety, etc., rubbing into the user's side. Currently, I've been wearing this on my side, but I may need to experiment and find a better location on my belt just to keep it from rubbing.

Very good leather and well made.
I have lots of kydex and leather holsters from different makers, For different uses, and most are excellent. What makes this one stand out from the rest: There is just something special about a well tooled leather holster that is similar to a top of the line saddle. For those of you who know what this is; This holster just reminds me of a Circle Y, double D ring roper. The more I use it the better I like it. For leather holsters I am a big fan of Desantis for concealment, kydex for tactical, and Safari Arms retention for duty carry. When I am fishing, hunting, and want a comfortable holster to protect and secure my firearm for long periods of time then this holster is my favorite. It’s just plain comfortable and it feels good. Like going fishing with an old friend.

Perfect Fit - Just like the 1911 Holster
Just like the 1911 Holster by 1791, I love the fit, the look, smell and the craftsmanship. Fitment is perfect after wrapping mag with heavy plastic ziplock, inserting in holster and letting it sit for a day. Purchased the belt as well.
