They changed these to add the non-skid backing... and are now much harder to wash and dry
First of all, let me say I love these mats. I first discovered them a few years ago at a pet store in Hilton Head. What sets these apart from the Dirty Dog runners was the backing. Dirty Dog had a wonderful non-skid backing, but required the mats to be air dried (and are much heavier when wet). The Soggy Doggy mats did not have the non skid backing, but they soak up just as much water, and are easier to wash and dry. Perfect for helping to dry your dog after a bath or a swim... and saves your floors! While I do appreciate the non-skid backing and the claim you can still dry on low, our washing machine did not ring out enough water to allow me to put it in the dryer (could be a problem on our end). So, I put it outside to air dry during the day until it was not quite so heavy and I could put it in the dryer. I just checked on it, and the binding is coming off in one place on the mat... and it's brand new. I would not have washed it yet but the puppy peed on it. I don't think I would have ordered the XL if I'd realized it had the non-skid backing. These are wider and heavier than the Dirty Dog runners... so more challenging to machine wash and dry.

Think, soft and gets some dirt off
I placed this in the entrance from where my pup enters the house with most moisture and mud.PROS:1. Great material - It's think and soft, my pup loves it2. Paw cleaning - I am able to get some dirt and moisture off of his paws (even though not completely)3. Easy to wash - Gets messy but easy to cleanNOTE: If your puppy is in teething phase, be mindful that he/she is going to chew on it.

Great little rug!
Quality is good. Rug works as described. Helps keep mud and dirt out of my home from dogs paws.👍. When I shake rug outside it always has collected a lot of dirt from my dogs paws and from our shoes.

ABSOLUTELY AWESOME
UPDATE 4/18/19UNBELIEVABLE !!!!!!!!!! Over the past year and almost a half, I have been dealing with health issues that have kept me from being able to do anything. My husband has really carried the load. I am thankful to say that I am now back on my feet. What in the world does this have to do with my Soggy Doggy’s you ask. Well, no matter how many times I told him, my husband washed our Soggy Doggy’s on heavy duty & dried them on high heat😳. One Soggy Doggy is showing a few signs of wear from that treatment. The ‘wear’ I am talking about is that it has faded more. Now, I don’t know about you, but a product that holds up to the worst abuse you can throw at it is worth its weight in gold. Unfortunately for the makers of Soggy Doggy, I have proven that they last years. I have a small one in the camper that still looks brand new.If you break down what Soggy Doggy’s cost against how long they last, they are a bargain. I have gone through so many area & throw rugs in the almost five years since I purchased my Soggy Doggy’s.Do yourself a favor, BUY A SOGGY DOGGY! Not only will you not be disappointed, but the darn thing lasts forever.UPDATE 12/2017 100 STARS ⭐️Like many others, we flooded due to Harvey. We got three feet of water in our house. Because we flooded from the river we also had a current that worked like a blender inside with our possessions. With the heat, the gooey residue from the flood water mixed with our furnishings created a stinky, toxic slurry. At the bottom of this were my two Soggy Doggy’s. To clean flood items you must use bleach & hot water. You need to either soak or wash items as thick as a Soggy Doggy twice. Now, this goes against everything that the manufacturer says to do, but I wanted to save my Soggy Doggy’s.I did not get around to washing them for a couple weeks. They were in a heap in the front yard. After two heavy duty cycles, with hot water and lots of bleach my Soggy Doggy’s are slightly faded. Other than that, you would never know the condition they had been in.To me, the best thing was when I brought the clean Soggy Doggy’s into the camper - my Babies immediately sat, laid and rolled on them!!! Too often, the stress on animals is overlooked, there is too much that needs done and it all needs done yesterday. For them to get ‘their’ Soggy Doggy’s back after the horrible shape they were in, I would pay any price!I like to read reviews before purchasing an item, but very seldom write one (shame on me). This product is so overwhelmingly good I have to write this review. To address some reviews I have read: too expensive. It is expensive, but given the amount of material in each one they are actually reasonably priced. too bulky to open a door over: very true. wonderful under a dog door, I actually placed a low mat in front of one door for the door to open over before getting to the soggy doggy, problem solved. came apart when washed: I have 4 soggy doggies, 2 xl, 1 doormat, 1 shammy. I have washed all of them multiple times with no problem. I have a newish Cabrio top loading washer & use it on bulky setting. Dryer is also newish Cabrio, I am able to dry it on low heat, it takes approx 45 min for the xl to dry. Many places, including Amazon sell 'rug backing', one is a thick liquid that can be brushed on, allow to dry 24 hrs, start using again. While I would prefer Soggy Doggy to come with a better backing, it is well worth applying your own. I have a pyr, a grt dane, a lab, & 2 med size dogs that use a dog door. I found it almost impossible to get them to wait long enough before moving off the soggy doggy for their feet to get dry enough, so I purchased a second one & solved the problem. As others have stated, it not only dries their feet, it also collects tree leaves, grass clippings... I am going to purchase another one to use in our camper. I cannot recommend this product enough.Update 7/30/14I wash my 60" doormat soggy doggies bi-weekly. One, one week, the other the next week... These have held up beyond expectations!! I don't think they have faded at all, even the bone design still looks white-cream. I pre-wash them once or twice depending on the amount of dirt. I am even more amazed now than I was. My dogs destroy throw rugs running in & out, the soggy doggies just keep going!!!

Keeps the mud off our wood floors
We have two labs on our farm who love to track mud into our kitchen. We set this rug so they have to walk across it when coming in the door and the results are remarkable. No more muddy paw prints everywhere. A little spendy for a door mat but worth it: I just bought another extra large one.

Muddy paws rescue at last!
Really pleased with this as it has finally solved the problem we have with muddy paws and our boggy lawn when it rains a lot. Luckily our Bearded Collie puppy did not choose to pull the threads out from the bone design as someone else has found, (although she did investigate this feature at first so I think that it would be better if a plain design was more easily available if you are concerned about this- they are more expensive and harder to obtain from what I could see?) and often sleeps on it rather then in her bed! Although we find the dirt-catcher type rugs and mats are very good, this is better just inside the kitchen door as so absorbant and looks really nice too. It also catches a vast amount of garden detritus/ dust etc as I have found when shaking it out so is very effective for dry dirt as well as wet. It also washes well and dries very quickly on low heat (as recommended to keep the fibres absorbant) but hardly needs this as it air dries very quickly anyway. We have now bought a second one as a spare and to take on holiday.

Lovely and thick, absorbent and doesn't slip
Bought for my daughter and her partner for their back kitchen door. They recently got a Malamute pup that loves the outdoors and constantly going outside and back in. This mat fits just right and absorbs any wetness from his paws. We chose a darker colour (dark brown) so it wouldn't show the dirt up as much but when it gets very dirty a quick pop into the washing machine on a high spin will sort it. I have an XL one myself by my patio door and as a dog boarder, I have found it very very useful to have. It's lovely and thick and doesn't slip. An XL one is too big for a domestic machine! I have to wash by hand in the lid of a child's sandpit! Hubby and I then hand wring it out then hope for a sunny 2 days for it to dry out! But it then doesn't need a wash for quite awhile apart from a good shake out every few days. Highly recommend this mat!

Room for improvement!
UPDATE AFTER FIRST WASH... This mat soaked up all the water in my machine so it set my machine off balance and wouldn't spin. I took the mat out and hand squeezed it then put back in machine, which solved the problem. The anti slip backing seems to have worn off slightly. I used surcare liquid which has no bleaches or conditioner as advised, on a low heat. The big disappointment is the stitching on the bone which has obviously just been stitched through and not secured. Lots of v shaped threads have came off and if I pull each stitch it comes away in my hand. The bone design has also been lost. Please see my photos.I bought the shammy and was so impressed that I went and bought the mat. I realy like the mat but don't love it, as there are a few niggly issues with it.THE POSITIVES....Great baby blue colour is the same as seen on photo on website.Super soft material.Good size.Realy absorbent.Traps dirt.Anti slip backing, as mat sprayed with rubber substance (not sure how long this will last after washing repeatedly).THE NEGATIVES....Tad prices for basically a good bath mat.Bone design is ruined a tad by blue bits mixed in (see pics).Need good clearance at bottom of door or chances are that door catches mat. When mat gets realy wet, moisture sits on floor as not fully rubber backed. Major flaw for a door mat!Loose brown threads, so not sure how it will fair after numerous washes.I would have gave this 5/5 if the mat had a waterproof back. The Mat is great for the bathroom, in car, in crate as bed etc but as a door mat it needs the waterproof element to protect flooring. I thought I solved the problem by placing over my rubber backed mat but then door wouldn't open due to no ground clearance. To use as a door mat, you will need to treat it as bath mat, and lift up straight after usage to dry out.Realy great product but needs tweeked for busy door mat usage.Would I buy more? ... yes! Even though I think it can be improved I still realy like it for other areas of my house.

Couldn't be without them!
This is the best thing that ever happened to our floors and my sanity. There is one at each outside door to trap all the sand, mud, water and other detritus trekked in by feet and paws and it works. I used to spend my days getting up the sand after each beach walk but now I shake the rug out once a week and lo! a mini beach is neatly deposited somewhere sensible. I also have these in the car to trap the sand and salt water after our daily walks. It saves me hours of vacuuming. Every so often, they are thrown into the washing machine and within a couple of hours are back on duty, fresh and new. I've had some of my beloved Soggy Doggys for well over two years now and they are still as good as new.

Protects my carpet from muddy, wet paws and feet!
Ordered two of these on the advice of multiple users on a forum I belong to and along with the product reviews on Amazon. As the wet autumn/winter is coming I wanted to protect my carpet from muddy, wet paws and feet! The mat arrived this morning and looks lovely, feels really soft and within the hour had been used multiple times! There is only a very slight damp feel to the carpet next to the mat whereas the mat itself feels wet and you can see the dirt that has been removed from the paws. The mat looks great, feels great, looks and feels well made and appears to be doing exactly what it was purchased for, I am really pleased.
