I actually bought two of these—identical carvings of QuanYin—one for myself, and one as a house-warming present for neighbors.It is apparently machine-carved, because the two are identical, but the result is quite beautiful. these are carved from ivory nuts, which look very similar to ivory. I’m very pleased with it, and my neighbors’ apparently were too! It is large for an ivory nut—I didn’t even know that they could be this large! 6 1/2 “ tall!As it is forbidden to carve and sell ivory—which is good, as elephants are much better kept alive! —the ivory nut makes an excellent substitute. It would take an expert to tell the difference. The color of these is as white as I would expect ivory to be. The design is classic, studying many statues of her. The feeling of compassion, for which she is known, seems to radiate from the statute. I recommend it as excellent for its size. in the home, set on a simple raised surface, it well-suits its purpose of promoting compassion for oneself and others, and a calm inner peace. The price is very reasonable for its quality.

The statue first arrived damaged in shipping so I returned it. They immediately sent another one - perfect this time but the decorative box was damaged. This time they sent a replacement decorative box in great shape (packed very well!) and a very nice gift. I would definitely do business with these folks again.
