Not even worth the $20
I got this as a test of how I would like building this type of model. At the price point I wasn't expecting much, but it didn't even meet those meager expectation. The instructions are a joke- you get one page in Mandarin with diagrams showing you which pieces to assemble where. The problem is not all pieces are easily identifiable, and I'm fairly certain some (the cannons) were missing. The materials were flimsy and very fragile. The fit between hull pieces was tight, which was great until I tried to lay the deck down. At that point, no matter how careful I was, pieces just kept breaking off until finally, I had to scrap her.The back of the first page of instructions showed how the masts were to be positioned, as well as the sails and some rigging, but it didn't look complete. The second page was the patterns for the sails- you get a small piece of cloth, and you have to cut the sails by hand.If you are looking to build a wooden ship, do yourself a favor. Spend the money to get a good kit, and skip this one entirely.

Great little boat!
A lot of the previous reviews were negative due to the parts not fitting together like a 3-D puzzle. What you need to know about this little boat model, is that it is not a 3-D puzzle! It’s a real model and it will require some fitting and filling and sanding to make it come out very nice. It will help, if you have some experience with wooden models. Also, as previously noted, the instructions are basically just pictures and they’re not super clear, but again, if you have some experience building wooden models especially boat models, you should be able to figure it out. To dress up the model, I added some commercial parts such as lights, and lifeboats, portholes etc. These vastly improved some of the provided detail parts, but they are certainly usable if that’s the way you want to go. All in all, a very enjoyable kit. I cannot say exactly how many hours it took to build it, but it certainly was not a one or two night build. It was an hour or so a night over the course of two or three weeks.

Just for Practice
Absolutely terrible instructions. Laser cut burned the edges off the wood. BUT IT'S REALLY GOOD TO PRACTICE ON FOR WHEN YOU GET A REAL MODEL SHIP KIT

No plans/blueprint.
Has been sitting unopened under my workbench for awhile. When I opened it up, it hadn’t come with the plans/diagram or anything to put it together. The parts appear to be clean, and well cut. The lack of plans is annoying but does not deter then experienced from building this model. It would just be better if it had the images.

Missing parts
I wanted to like this and even with no decent instructions included (they can be downloaded) but the quality of the wood is very poor. The worst part is that a piece was missing. The sheets with the parts are full with all the parts except one. How can a company totally miss a part. The rear cover from the deck to the rail is not present. That leaves a hole in the back of the ship. There is not enough material to make it from scratch. I understand getting what you pay for but a missing piece? That is pretty bad. I won't purchase from this company again.

Fun to build
These models are very inexpensive and fun to build. Take your time and you’ll be proud of the finished product

Don’t buy if you are a novice
Instructions are horrible! The written instructions are in Chinese. The images are just as bad (like a really bad xerox copy). And there are no instructions on how to do the outrigging. Fortunately, I’m a 26 year veteran at building wooden model boats, and was able to make lemonade out of a lemon. This kit is not for a novice.Update: Been working on this model since late January 2022. The hull planking is a nightmare, but I found a way to overcome this but only from the experience of building wooden model boats for over two decades. Even as a veteran boat builder, this kit is quite a challenge! The last picture is where I’m at right now. The second picture is a reference I found on the web of another kit of the same boat that shows more quality details. Oh, and the rigging? That’s another challenge! One thing that is good about building this boat is that it brings a serious challenge if you like challenges in wooden model boat building! To all you veterans of model boat building and want to turn a Chinese piece of junk into a treasure, this is for you!
