Oboe Reed - Medium

We use this reed at the recommendation of our oboe teacher for our son. We have been generally happy with these reeds and have purchased from this seller many times now as getting the reeds online have been more convenient for us. Occasionally, we have had a reed that hasn’t lasted as long as we’d hoped, but in general have been able to get what we would expect

My daughter is satisfied with the purchase and uses the reed with her Oboe.

My daughter has only been playing the oboe for 1 year so we are only just beginning to discover what works for her and what doesn't. She has been using the Marlin Lesher Medium Soft reeds up until very recently. Her teacher felt that she was ready to move on to a Medium reed and in the past 2 weeks she has gone through 4 reeds. Literally, every time she opens a new reed and uses it, it cracks while she is using it that very first time. We don't know if it is something that she is doing wrong or if the reeds become more delicate as they rise in hardness. So we haven't had a very good experience with these reeds, but the company was wonderful and sent us out new reeds right away. So we are very happy with Marlin Lesher, but less than pleased with the reeds themselves. We figure we will have to go back to Medium Soft or try another company to see if the same thing happens with Medium reeds from another company.

The five reeds I ordered were fine. I'm particularly pleased with the sound they make, unfortunately one of them got broken the first time I used it. They are pretty good reeds to practice with; of course they don't even get close to the quality of professional handmade reeds done particularly for me, but still, when it's not possible to make my own reeds, they are a good choice.

I know these are machine made, but, wow, it’s obvious this reed went out the door without any inspection. I could tell by looking as the misalignment of the reeds that nobody bothered to do so.There have been some good reviews of these reeds, so I imagine some people get lucky, but I got burned, never again!

My son loves Lesher reeds, though they always need a little work to get just right and are frequently on backorder.

Middle school student using. Works better then others ordered on here.

Bought for a new Oboe student. Great product for a beginner. This reed does seem to need longer soaks inorder to get good air flow resulting in desired sound.
