works with Galaxy SII T-Mobile SGH-T989 (aka Samsung Hercules) w/ both flash drives and sd card readers
Concise: It works as it should.Verbose: I'm still running Android 2.3.6 (Gingerbread), rooted. When a storage device is plugged in, you get a "USB device connected" notification. If you swipe the notification bar down you'll see the USB symbol and "Select to remove USB device safely" (the Android equivalent of Windows' "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media"), which you should tap if you've written any data to the device (to ensure the file system is clean) before you unplug it. That's all that will happen. You have to use a file browser (like the built-in "Files", or better yet, something like ES File Explorer) to see the new file system, which will be mounted as /usbStorage.I use this because I keep all my passwords in a KeePass Password Safe, which I keep in my Dropbox. This keeps all my passwords (strongly encrypted), synchronized across all my devices. I keep my digital key, which is needed in conjunction with the master password to open the safe, on an SD card, as well as the portable version of KeePass. By using an SD card reader instead of a thumb drive I can keep it write protected, and know that my application can't be hacked without physical possession of the SD card. So basically I can walk up to any computer, pop in my read-only sd-card with the app and digital key, type in the Master Password, and open the safe. Worst case is actually plugging it into my phone, running the Android port, use the key and password to display what I need on the phone, and manually type in whatever password or combination, or remember the location of the treasure map, or whatever... [Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you ;^]So that's what I use this cable for, but you could use it to hold lots of extra music too, lol. Or plug in a keyboard, or mouse... Haven't tried plugging in a USB Hub... hmmm :) Anyway, the cable has stood up to almost a year of use and the connectors are still snug. The only negative is that I'd prefer if the cable weren't there, and it went directly from micro-usb to female USB--but that's not a flaw, it would just be a different design.

Performs as expected
I bought this cable with a specific need at the time, I have several mobile devices along with other micro-usb equipped non-portable devices and thought this would eventually come in handy for hooking up a few full sized USB peripherals like a mouse, keyboard, game controller and others. The first thing to note if you're considering this item, and this is not a problem with this product itself, you'll need to make absolutely sure the device you're getting it for support USB On the go/host mode. Many device do not support this. If you're doesn't support it, this will literally do nothing for you.For devices that do support it, it gets the job done. The cable is a little shorter than similar products and is definitely not made from top of the line components, but that's to be expected at the price. I've tested it with a flash drive, keyboard and mouse on a few different devices and it's worked with all of those. I only paid $1.50 for it and really, at that price I have nothing to complain about.I wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone with the need for such a product. The only strike against it is that it feels cheap, but hey, it IS cheap. Again, just make sure the device you want to use it for supports USB OTG otherwise you'll be buying something that will be essentially worthless to you.

Cheap and Gets the Job Done
The media could not be loaded. As you can see in the video, the USB OTG adapter works right out of the box with some phones. For more advanced uses for it and unsupported phones, check out the StickMount App on the Play Store. [...] I'd highly recommend this if you just want to add a keyboard to your phone or if you want to hook up controllers to play a video game on it. Like I said in the video I've tested a keyboard and mouse on it, but it did not work for the flash drive, that requires StickMount. At first I was a little worried about order from China but it took roughly a week and a half shipping and arrived working and no problems. It was also $0.83 compared to $20 versions. For $0.83 you aren't really risking anything and might as well get one.I have tried to make a list of all the supported devices without rooting. I can personally vouch for the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7, the rest are based on other reviews. I will try to keep this list up to date, so if you know of more devices, please leave me a comment or send me a message and I will add it.Asus Nexus 7Motorola XoomSamsung Galaxy S2, S3, Nexus, NoteUpdate: For the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 7, and Motorola Xoom you can download the Nexus Media Importer off of the Play Store to get USB and SD storage. This is great if you need more space to store media that is too big to keep on your Nexus.

needs additional software
For non rooted devices needs an additional 'app' to allow the use of USB sticks. With the app, am able to play movies stored on external USB sticks .... so a good way to use thenexus 7 as a video play in the car.

Prompt delivery from Amazon as usual, but item arrived damaged. The piece of plastic actually inside the USB connector was missing. Just 4 metal prongs which were unsupported, meaning no connection could be made. Miserable quality control
