Quality mower build to last
I've never tried a reel mower before and once I tried it, I quickly realized-Reel mowers are by far the best way to mow your lawn if you don't mind a bit of tinkering to keep the blades sharp and in spec (the blades don't touch.) Pushing a gas mower has its own issues, such as spark plug fouling, bad gas from last year, etc., to keep things in perspective. Pushing a gas mower is a chore, whereas this is quiet, almosttherapeutic.I have no experience to compare brands, but here are my shopping notes:Scott makes arguably the best mower that has wider cutting path, greater range of cutting height, and gets great reviews.Fiskars gets great reviews as well, adds some proprietary features that allow for longer intervals between sharpening and cuts almost as wide as the wheels, which is great for mowing along a fence.Greenworks has a four year warranty and makes a good product. It would appear that the Gardena model 4018 (or 400 as per Gardena's website) is the newest version, it has a 15.75" cutting width, which is a bit wider than previous models. It's a quality made product, time will tell how well it holds up- many of the other reviews state that this product is designed to last a lifetime and I don't doubt it. Personally if it makes it five years I'd buy another one.

Powerful, Sharp Cuts
This mower has a wind-up mechanism so if you give it a good push before hitting the grass the blades will be moving quickly and chop right through. I have a fairly thick lawn, albeit small, and it cuts right through it. As with other reviews, sticks with get stuck in the blades. Otherwise we're super happy.

This is a really great lawn mower
This is a really great lawn mower. It's a good quality product and I actually enjoy mowing my lawn with it! Some say only use a reel mower if you have a very small lot but we have a medium-sized yard (1/3 acre) and this mower does very well.

It's NOT GOOD
The media could not be loaded. UPDATE- 1 yr later.Stored in a dry crawlspace in the off-season, lubricated with spray oil, reasonably cleaned. The bearings have rusted and seized completely. The mowing cylinder comes with the bearings press fit on. It is now completely useless unless I buy a new cylinder, the most expensive part of the garbage mower.Pros: leaves a nice cut, very compact, very light, very quietCons: does not work at all in tall, tough, or wet grass (not tall as in 'overgrown', tall as in 3 inches, the lowest some powered mowers will go). I was considering returning this.Perfect for keeping your already perfectly manicured lawn perfect, I guessI fail to see any value in this above any of the other, much cheaper push mowers out there

I was excited to get this mower...
I was excited to get this mower, but it is not a good product. I can't go more than 3 steps before the blade binds from (dry) grass! I have a Fiskars reel mower and was hoping this would be better (German) quality, but it is far worse. Near the blades there is a sticker that reds Husquvarna Sweden. Apparently this manufacturer is actually Husquvarna, using the Gardena name. It's misleading, as Gardena used to be great German quality. Furthermore, the wheels and rollers are plastic, and it just feels "cheap."
