Q: What difference does the gel make vs the other Zinus 12" Memory Foam green tea mattress?

The gel infused mattress is cooler. I have 2 of these mattresses. I have the 12” and the 14”. The 14” is much softer. Also, I had a mattress protector on it the first few nights and it made it so hot. Don’t use a mattress protector. You are negating the cooling technology of the mattress. As soon as I removed the protector, it was comfortably cool.

Q: Is this exactly the same as the 12 inch green tea mattress but cooler?

I have them both as well and yes it is cooler than the non-gel version. It also feels firmer and a much better nights rest. I recommend this over the non-gel version.

Q: How does the 10" mattress compare to the 12" for firmness?

I ordered both the 10" and the 12" to compare. The 12" is VERY firm. The 10" is firm (not 'medium plush', as advertised). Both are way too hard to be on your side or back. If you sleep exclusively on your belly, it might work for you. But for me, both sizes are too hard even to sleep on my stomach.

Latex foam is outside the scope of our certification. It is possible for a manufacturer to include a layer of latex in a mattress that contains certified polyurethane foam. In this case, as long as the flexible polyurethane foam is certified, the manufacturer would be allowed to use the CertiPUR-US seal. You should contact the mattress manufacturer to ask if your model contains latex.
