Very good chestnuts. They may not look all that appealing as some others have stated. They are not slimy. Yes, they are packaged wet. They have to be or they would dry out. That doesn't change the quality or the taste! I just made another purchase of the chestnuts today. You can use them in cooking or eat them as a snack. Excellent item.

Every Christmas dinner I like to make something new - so this year I chose to make a chestnut sage risotto. Many people complained about the "slime" on them when they opened, but I read other posts to heat them up before chopping to help the wetness go away from being in the foil vacuum-sealed bag. We were pleasantly surprised at how well these really tasted in the risotto. The product with 3 bags was exactly what I needed and fast shipping too!

Never having tasted chestnuts before and looking for an alkaline nut to replace my more acidic walnuts, I ordered 3 small bags of this product. I eagerly opened one bag. Undaunted by the appearance, although it was very unappealing I popped one into my mouth. Ugh! The thing had no "nut" characteristics. It had the taste and consistency of lima beans. How dare this thing masquerade as a nut. I consigned all three bags to a deserved fate in the garbage disposal. If you have never tasted chestnuts before, beware!

I've never had "roasted chestnuts" before, thought it'd be a fun Christmas thing. I didn't like these. My 1st impression wasn unfavorable. They were mushy -- I wasn't sure if ALL roasted chestnuts are like that, or if my batch was rotten. We bought 3 packages. We opened 1, didn't like 'em and threw the other 2 in the garbage, unopened.I've had boiled peanuts before and they are yummy! These chestnuts were similar but squishy-er. Mushy.And different flavor (chestnut flavor, I guess). But because of the super-mushy texture, I couldn't bring myself to try some from a 2nd pack. Huge holiday letdown.Maybe in 11 months I will try a similar product from another company. Until then, my opinion is "roasted chestnuts" = gross.If all roasted chestnuts are bland & mushy, then I apologize to this company. It may be me, not you.

This is a great product! As the subject says, delicious and nutritious. At least my fourth order in 5 months.
