Great for the weld shop
I bought these for an alternative to wearing a mask while welding and grinding all day. They work great for that and other co-workers like to use them as well. I just use one a day, and I can breath just fine in and out of the nose.

Breate easier during dusty work.
These plus a mask really help when doing things like sanding doors for a fresh coat of paint.

Helps with allergies.
Relatively inexpensive way to deal with allergy attacks. Works better than any pill I can take. They're even breathable.

Not just for spray tanning. Wish they came in a less noticeable color.
I got these a few days ago for my allergies during high pollen days. The sponge like material is so comfortable I forget they're in place. I even wear while sleeping. It's great to wake up and be able to breathe! I plan on using them the next time I clean my garage. The floor gets so dusty and sweeping just stirs it up to where I can see the dirt when I blow my nose later in the day...yuck! In the past I bought some really expensive nose filters. They work but they're not very comfortable, with a little filter held in place by a plastic housing. I will save those for flu season when better filtration might be needed. The black color is the only drawback to these. They are very noticeable. That's ok, these will be fine for when I'm at home, which is the majority of the time I'll be wearing them.Since I knew the color before i ordered, I can't fault them for that, I give them five stars for a great product!

I bought for a different use
I bought these because I have chickens that I have for laying eggs. You can't get around chickens without getting dusted so I use these to keep my allergies from being attacked by the dust. While it works I do have issues every now and then where a filter won't seat as tightly as I would like and it will let air come in between the outside of the filter and my nose. But this is about 1 in 10 so far and I have only used ~20.

Should be offered as elongated, egg-shaped plugs, and with a larger size for men
These seem smaller than a brand that I previously purchases. These plugs are circular in shape (13mm) with a coned top that peaks at ~13mm from the base. Distance between the plugs, measured along inside of connecting strip is 15mm. If the plugs were egg shaped with 16mm distance top to bottom then I might be able to get good fit. With them being completely circular, and on the medium to small size, I can shine a light right past them, to the back of the nostrils!UPDATE: If I place the plugs so the bottom edge is flush with the rim of the nose, instead of placing them up into the nose, I have found I can use narrow strips of 3M Durapore tape to cover any air gap between the nostril edges and plugs.

These do not work, and here's why:
I'm writing this review in the hope to prevent others from buying these and thinking they will protect them sufficiently from inhaling unwanted substances. They simply do not do what they are supposed to do. If you try these and find that it is easy (or even possible) to breathe, then air is slipping past the foam and getting into your nose unfiltered. I know this because as a scientifically minded person I did several tests on the foam inserts in order to determine if I could rely on them to block out unwanted contaminants like pollen, pet dander and mould.A very simple test anyone can do is to put one in your mouth, make a perfect seal around the foam with your lips and attempt to breathe. You'll find that it is not possible to breathe through the foam for more than 2 or 3 breaths because there's not enough airflow. Another test: put one into a straw that's just a fraction smaller than the round foam filter, so as to get a perfect seal all the way around. Cut the straw down to an inch in length. Try to breathe through the straw. It's not possible to breathe for more than a few seconds before one must give up and gasp for some air.So, much as I really hoped this would be a solution for blocking out airborne dust and particles, and free me from having to wear a full face mask, it just does not work. There's the illusion that it's working and that it's easy enough to breathe (as seen in the other reviews) but sadly, what those people don't realise is that if they can breathe at all with these in place, unfiltered air is getting in between the foam and the nostril and the wearer is simply not being protected.
